Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas - Castillo San Felipe de Barajas is a fortification located in the city of Cartagena de Indias in Colombia. It is situated on a hill known as San Lazarus. Constructed in 1657 during the Spanish colonial period, it endured frequent attacks from the English and French, with French commander Baron de Pointis capturing the castle in mid-1697.
La Popa Convent - Approaching Cartagena by land, sea, or air, the first noticeable feature is a mountain range or small hill, with its highest point reaching 148 meters above sea level, known as La Popa de La Galera. Inside the convent, visitors are impressed by the grandeur of the central courtyard and the robust columns and walls designed to withstand attacks and bombings. The church is dedicated to the purification of the Virgin or Candlemas, named after the candles blessed in her honor on February 2, a day of celebration. No festivity in Cartagena, whether civic or religious, matches the splendor of the Candelaria de la Popa festival. The large crowds that gather for the solemn procession on February 2, from the sanctuary of La Popa to the city center, are unparalleled in any other popular event.
Las Bovedas - This significant monument, originally a residential building for soldiers during colonial times, has now been transformed into the best handicraft shopping mall in Cartagena de Indias. Here, visitors can admire local and national handicrafts, as well as gold and silver jewelry adorned with Colombian emeralds.
