Highlights
  • Cascais Marina - Cascais is one of Portugal’s richest municipalities and a popular tourist destination. A small fishing village turned into a Portuguese riviera and a place of rest for kings and nobles at the end of the 19th
  • Casino Estoril - Located on the shores of Cascais Bay, Estoril Casino is considered the largest and oldest in Europe. This casino is visited by many famous people, among them was the writer Ian Fleming, the author of the Bondiade.
  • Boca do Inferno - Not far from Cascais is an amazing natural creation - the grotto of the Gates of Hell or Boca do Inferno. During a storm, when the waves hit the rocks hard and burst through the arch into the grotto, a strong roar is created in this place, similar to the roar of the beast. All this attracts many tourists who come to admire the endless beauty and power of the ocean.
  • Guincho Beach - Blown by the winds, with a wide line of sand, huge waves and convenient access along a scenic highway, Ginshu Beach has gained its popularity among surf-sport enthusiasts. The beach has been recognized as the best for sports, and it is here that many world championships in surfing, windsurfing and kite kung are held.
  • Cabo da Roca - The place where the land ends and the sea begins - the poet Luis de Camoes wrote about Cape Roca. The westernmost point of Europe, a deserted cliff that rises 140 meters above the ocean. When you are here, you feel like a grain of sand next to the mighty and endless Atlantic. A breathtaking view of the ocean opens from here, and romantics can see a beautiful sunset here and hear the mighty sound of the ocean.
  • Castelo dos Mouros - The medieval castle of the Moors, erected on top of a picturesque hill, is known for its 1000 years of history. Built in a strategic place from which the Moors could control all the main routes, it served as a fortifying and defensive function. If you want to go back to the medieval past and forget about reality, then this is the place for you. From the height of the castle walls, there are wonderful panoramic views of the city of Sintra, the green valleys and the endless ocean.
  • Park and National Palace of Pena - One of the Seven Wonders of Portugal and the most visited attraction of Sintra - the Pena Palace seems to have come down from the colorful pictures of a children’s book. The fabulous palace, towering on top of a hill, was built in 1840 and served as the summer residence of the royal family. Today, it is a unique monument, unparalleled in the world, under the protection of UNESCO. Around the palace is a beautiful park, which contains plants from different parts of the world.
  • Quinta da Regaleira - The palace and park complex of Quinta da Regaleira, also known as the Palace of Monteiro, is another pearl of Sintra. Enveloped in mysticism and the mysterious spirit of Freemasonry, this ensemble fascinates you at first sight, and after visiting it you still have a feeling that you have been in a magical country. Architect Luigi Mancini skillfully combined in his project elements of architecture from different eras. The construction of the ensemble began in 1904 and the result was a four-story palace, a Catholic chapel and the Garden of Eden, spread over four hectares. Everything here is full of mysteries and puzzles, over which historians and scientists from all over the world still fight.
  • Parque e Palacio de Monserrate - The area, which later became a beautiful garden and palace, got its name from the little old chapel of Our Lady of Montserrat. At the end of the 18th century, this piece of land was bought by textile magnate and traveler Francis Cook. A few years later, English architect James Bowles built for the Cook family a beautiful palace with an amazing mix of architectural styles - Moorish, Gothic and Indian. From inside, Montserrati looks like lace - walls, ceilings, and stairs are decorated with elaborate stucco and stone carvings. A wonderful park with rare plants brought from all over the world was set up around the palace. The Palace and Park of Montserrati was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, and in 2013 the park received the prestigious award as the best historic garden.
