Craters Silvestri of Mount Etna - The Silvestri Craters are two inactive volcanic craters situated on the southeastern slope of Mount Etna, Europe’s highest active volcano. They are named after the Silvestri family, who owned the land where they formed. The cones are located at an altitude of around 1,900 meters (6,234 feet) above sea level and are easily accessible from the main road leading to the Etna South Rifugio.
Today, the Silvestri Craters are a popular tourist destination. Visitors can hike to the craters and explore the inside of the cones. The views from the craters are stunning, and visitors can also see the other active craters of Mount Etna in the distance.
