Dim with whale sharks on Cebu trip - I went at the option of the company that arranged the hotel and the flight instead of the tour here, sorry. Depart from the hotel at 4:00 in the early morning with private transfer. About 56,000 yen for two. The road is not so good and it rocks, so intoxicants are essential. It took about four hours to reach a fishing village called Oslob. We stopped at a 7-Eleven on the way. There is basically no toilet paper in the Philippines except in hotels, so take tissues with you. I'm surprised it's not even in a big shopping center. I thought I'd arrive and wait for quite a few people, but my guide led me through the waiting people and I immediately went to the boat. I made a terrible mistake here, leaving my smartphone in the car... Keep your memories in mind. Soon we got to a spot of whale sharks and dived into the sea. Whale sharks welcome you with open mouths. Extremely powerful. Another group of sardines or horse mackerel swimming with their big mouths open, their jaws almost falling off. Enjoy 2 or 30 minutes and return to the boat. An invaluable experience. One option is to go by bus on your own cheaply, but for time, effort and peace of mind, transportation to and from the hotel is easy. After this, we snorkeled on Sumilon Island and went to our hotel. What about that Tumalog Falls? I didn't ask because it was troublesome. Thank you very much. Waterproof cover if you have a smartphone. I'm told to wear a life jacket again, but I think it's easier to see if I don't. Be careful because I was stung by a jellyfish again.

One of the best experiences of my life! - This was one of the best experiences of my life. Do yourself a favour and upgrade to go scuba diving rather than wait 3hours in line to go snorkelling. I had never been scuba diving and it was mind blowing to be up close with these incredible animals!

Awesome, Awesome, Awesome - Everything was great with the tour. My tour guide was excellent and got the guys in the boat to take some great videos of me swimming with the whale shark. The waterfall tour was great, and my driver was the best. Thanks for the sticky rice; it was great.

good experience - This is one main attraction that my husband and I were expecting when booking our flight to Cebu. We booked a hotel in the city so we had to endure waking up as early ad 3am to be picked up by our driver. We arrived around 5 in the morning at Oslob and the lines were already so long for the foreigners but gladly there were only a few locals at that time. It was a nice experience seeing these whale sharks.

Oslob adventure - Being in the water is only part of the adventure. Up at 3am, drive for 2.5 to 3 hours over a winding potholed under construction road in the dark. Very commercial venture, expect to share your day with about 300 other people. Not a quality experience in that reguard. Wait in a long line and be hurded along to info-gathering desk, I'd check desk and to ticket booth (500)p. Get a life jacket, get into outrigger, go out about 300 yards, anchor, jump in water for whales to appear. They do so as they are being fed handfuls of krill. You get within a few feet of these VERY large animals. About 30 minutes. You can get the essence of the swimming part on some excellent utube shots. Not something you do a second time but I would caution my friends to not venture to Cebu just for this.

Overpriced - Do not take an organised tour, the fee to see the whale sharks isn t more than 10€. Take a bus instead of a tour guide and do the same for almost all the tours in the Philippines.

Flee - Horrible, no respect for the animal. To escape, don't go there you will regret it. Choose another spot that is more respectful of the animal...

UNETHICAL, avoid at all costs! - Please don’t do this tour! It’s completely unethical. We did a group trip on this tour, regrettably without having properly done our research (so it’s absolutely our own fault). We had a brief look online about which tours were ethical and this one was suggested - so we should have looked into it more. The trip started at about 4am, when we were collected from our hotel in Cebu City. We were driven 2.5 hours to Oslob where we had to wait about 6 hours before it was our turn to go into the water. There are thousands of tourists (not even a remote exaggeration) waiting to go on row boats and get into the sea with the whale sharks - that’s why the wait is so long. People get called up in groups of about 15 people a time and there are about 20-25 boats each carrying that number of people. There are several workers on smaller boats, rowing up and down the sea throwing feed into the water to ensure the whale sharks stay in view. Whilst the animals are absolutely beautiful and fascinating, it’s totally unethical. I really wish I had done more research as this was a complete tourist trap. The animals shouldn’t be treated like this. Part of our trip then took us to Moal Boal where there were sea turtles swimming in the shallow water and a sardine run in the deeper waters. Whilst the turtles were not being fed to keep them in the shallow, there was a small group of tourist along with our group of three people who were getting far too excited and kept swimming over the turtles and not leaving them alone. None of the guides told them to calm down or back away. I would not want to have this experience again.

Profitable mass tourism and captivity - Avoid at all costs! Classic mass tourism that specifically makes a profit at the expense of the animals. Of course, I cannot evaluate the treatment of the animals in more detail, but the fact that they can only move within their fenced-in area is enough to make me realize that this cannot be considered species-appropriate keeping. Furthermore, the rush is so great that a waiting time of 3 to 4 hours can already be expected at 6:00 a.m. We paid for the activity in advance, but ultimately didn't go on the boat.
