- Wat Chedi Luang Varavihara - Wat Chedi Luang, this temple is the site of an enormous pagoda, originally 280 feet high, and was partially destroyed by an earthquake in 1545. At one time, Wat Chedi Luang housed the revered Emerald Buddha image now enshrined in Bangkok’s Wat Phra Kaew. One of Wat Chedi Luang’s most striking architectural features is a magnificent Naga staircase adorns the chapel’s front porch.
- Wat Phra That Doi Suthep - It is a tremendous temple complex with a visual delight every time you turn your head. It is popular with the tour buses, but wait for the tour to move on and enjoy it. Give yourself plenty of time and you will not be disappointed.
- Wat Pha Lat - This temple is the ancient precursor (lower on the mountain) than Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. While a little less grand than it’s younger sibling, it is steep with history, reverence, and peace. Boasting beautiful views of the city of Chang Mai, it is built on a stream with a seried of waterfalls. A terrific place for meditation or simple reflection. Go!!
- Tha Phae Gate - Romantic, Beautiful, Enchanting - these are the three words that I could sum up experiencing one of Chiang Mai’s historic gates - The Tha Phae gate. When the city was founded by King Mangrai in 1296 these gates together with other gates (Chang Puak, Chiang Mai, Pratu Soan Dok) protect the old city. Tha Phae gate lies on the east of the city and made of Red bricks stone.

Tour of the temples - Our tour guide Oh La La was incredible. She was supper knowledgeable about the history of the temples; about Buddhism in general and she shared her passion and enthusiasm about history of the places we visited. Her English was excellent, which made the experience even better.

Great overall experience - This was a great tour!! The guide and driver was wonderful and super knowledgeable. The guide also taught us a lot about Buddhism. My favorite temple was Wat Pha Lat Temple!!

The temples we visited... - The temples we visited are beautiful. We especially liked the Wat Doi Suthep. It was a big complex. The images of Buddha are shown there.

Do it! - We had the best time on this tour! We learned so much about the temples and even stopped at the Jade Factory to see how jade products were made. Som, our tour guide was awesome and so was our driver, Nadine! Highly recommend this tour. We were able to talk with a Monk which was a highlight and also received several blessings from two monks. This tour is such a wonderful memory for us!

Exploring and discovering beautiful Chaing Mai temples - Sung was our tour guide along with Mr.Bee who was the driver. Sung qas very knowledgeable and was excellent in her communication. She explained Buddha teaching and she herself is a big believer and follower of Buddhism teaching. At the end of the tour , she took us to a very beautiful Thai restaurant overlooking a pond with plentiful fish and beautiful flowers. We had a great day exploring 4 beautiful temple within the old city of Chiang Mai.

Magical Day! - Our tour guide was smart, funny, and extremely knowledgeable. She grew up in the area and went to college in ChiangMai. In Way Doi Suthep, I told our tour guide, Oo, that I had lost a son and it is my tradition to light a candle for him in new countries( Notre Dame, St Patrick’s, a country church in Aruba). I asked her if it would be possible to do something like that here. She took the request very seriously and compassionately. She led me where we could buy candles. Instructed me that when lighting the candles to request peace & understanding. Once the candles were placed, she kneeled, she placed a lotus bud between my hands, and she led us in prayer for my son.
The entire day was magical.

Wonderful trip to the major temples around Chiang Mai - Very interesting and impressive day visiting the main temples in Chiang Mai and surrounding. Great comments and explanations by our special tour guide lady. Only more time for pictures would have been appreciated
