- Elafonissi Beach - The road ends 1km (0,6 miles) before the beach. You will have to walk on a dirt track for 15 minutes down and 20 up the road. It will be harder to visit Elafonisi beach for children, persons with health problems or walking difficulties. Elafonisi is located in the southwestern most tip of Crete. It is an oblong peninsula, which often breaks in two parts by water giving the impression of being a separate island. Exotic beaches with white sand and turquoise water, are formed on either sides of the peninsula. The sand is pinkish in many places, taking its color from millions of crushed shells. Near the breaking point of the peninsula, the sea creates a small lagoon which you can cross the lagoon in order to reach the island. The island is a mile long, ending in a rocky outcrop. Elafonisi is a Natura 2000 protected area home to more than 100 rare plants and a great shelter for rare loggerhead sea turtles.

This is an exclusive trip, using a seven-seat van to accomodate up to 6 guests. Elafonisi island, inclusive of its shoreline, is positioned at the southwestern end of Crete, at a distance of approximately 75km from Chania. It’s revered as one of the top beach destinations worldwide! The island has a link to Crete through a thin, shallow sandbar, creating along its elongated peninsula, enthralling shorelines with white sand and clear turquoise waters on both sides! Parts of the sand display a pinkish hue, a result of countless pulverized seashells. As a result, a shallow lagoon is formed, providing an opportunity for a stroll to Elafonisi island and exploration of its surrounding beaches. The route leading there is filled with wonders such as the breathtaking Topolia Gorge, scenic villages, and a diversity of captivating terrains! It’s crucial to note that the tour’s main objective extends beyond simply visiting a beach, the journey itself provides an invigorating experience. We will take a lunch break on our way back! At your request, we can schedule a visit to a Winery, an Olive Oil Factory for a Tasting Tour, or a Monastery.

Elafonisi Day Trip - Sofia was our guide - she was so welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. We stopped at cool spots along the way to the beach that we would have never known about! Elafonisi was beautiful and we took so many photos. Sofia also recommended an incredible lunch spot that was family run - it was the best meal on our trip! We had an amazing time and would do it again!!

Amazing Beach Experience with the best local tour guide! - Amazing Beach Experience!
The beach was gorgeous and we created amazing memories. Our tour guide Petros was fabulous!
Petro's knowledge about the area was truly impressive! He shared fascinating facts and stories about the beach and its surroundings, enriching our visit with a deeper understanding of the local culture and history.

Highly Recommend!!!! - My husband and I had a fantastic time on this tour! Sofia and Peter were lovely and took great care of us the entire way there. We learned so much about Crete during our drive to the beach, and they kept things interesting and fun. We stopped to view Topolia gorge and there were opportunities to visit an olive oil factory and other sites. As for the beach, it was PERFECT! We fully recommend this family run business and will use them again in the future!

The Best Way to Enjoy the sights in Crete! - Excellent tour! Peter, George and Sofia are excited to show you around and will arrange a tour to exactly match whatever you are interested in. In 2 days with them, we were able to tour an olive oil factory, do a wine tasting, hike Imbros Gorge and walk along Elefonisi beach, with various stops along the way. Everything was comfortable and well organized. Many thanks to our excellent guide Sofia for never rushing us but somehow getting us to our bookings right on time! The best way to see the sights around Chania - don't even consider driving yourself! So happy we found this tour company!

Honey, Olive Oil, Beach and goat!! - Geroge was awesome! He picked us up on time and ensured that our experience was special. Elafonissi Beach was our end goal but got so much more! George was very excited to show and tell us about his beloved Crete. We made appropriate stops giving us opportunities to see villages, as well as great shopping opportunities. The beach was as expected, amazing! On the way back he had a few options for a stop for food, we chose the Goat! It was so special. I would recommend Niriis Tours to anyone!

Tour guide made all the difference - George was a fabulous tour guide! He communicated with me from the moment I booked the tour right up to the week of to make sure we had the best experience. He suggested we leave the hotel early to beat the crowds and he was absolutely correct in that decision. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch on the way home with George and loved getting to know him!

Great Advice - Glad we got there early! - We had a great time heading to Elafonisi. George was an excellent tour guide. Follow his advice and get there early - we were glad we did. We got there and got four chairs and umbrellas, and then, not even 15 minutes later, they were all taken up. It was terrific advice. The walk there is not that bad. I recommend following his advice and checking out the lunch place he recommends. The orange juice is not to be missed. We had a great time, though, and would highly recommend this experience.

True appreciation for Crete - This was one of the best tours we had in Greece! The knowledge of our guide was incredible! The weather ended up being overcast but our guide more than made up for the weather with his knowledge of Crete and Greece overall; highly recommend!

Awesome tour - We had an amazing day! George was a fabulous tour guide who shared much information with us about Greek life on Crete and his personal life growing up there. We made a few stops on our way to Elafonisi beach which was beautiful. We spent time relaxing on the beach and wading out to the island. On our way back we stopped at an amazing restaurant in a small village for lunch. George helped us with the menu and made suggestions and we had a wonderful meal and we were all amazed at how good goat can taste!

Very nice day trip from Chania - This was a really nice day trip. The weather was not in our favour and the beach was unseasonably chilly and cold so we didn't stay for long. The view is not as spectacular as Balos beach but it must be incredible on a hot, sunny day. We also had an amazing and inexpensive lunch in a small town (own expense). The guide had a very, very high proficiency in English and was very chatty and full of info and historical facts. I would definitely recommend this tour!
