Highlights
- Assateague Island - We will tour the southern and northern parts of Assateague island on the Virginia side searching for Chincoteague Ponies and Wildlife. We will travel in small guts and waterways to get as close as possible to all the wildlife. During the tour we will pass the Pony Swim and Assateague lighthouse. Sometimes we will cruise out into the open ocean to search for dolphins. Most of our tours will travel the entire distance around Chincoteague. We will also ask questions during boarding to get a feel of what everyone’s expectations so we can tailor the tour to your liking!

*Our tours are a Full 2 hours around Chincoteague and Assateague! We run all brand new boats and travel over 25 miles of coastline.
*Our tours allow you to have the best, up close and personal experience to see ponies and other wildlife such as eagles, ospreys, herons, egrets, pelicans, dolphin, and beautiful sunsets around Chincoteague and Assateague Islands.
*Each experience includes a tour of the island and cruise through small guts and waterways to get you up close to an abundance of wildlife and scenery.

Best Pony view with Best Tour Boat - The view was amazing, our guide Mike has been one of the most amazing guides I've had! I had the chance to see the wild ponys and he explained everything to us, and some other funny stories, love how he showed us the island!

Trip Highlight - Must Do! - Mike's tour was by far the highlight of our trip to Chincoteague. He has a genuine love and respect for the ponies and the natural world and his knowledge about them and the history of the island is unparalleled. We are so grateful for sharing his hometown with us. He gave us a memory that will last a lifetime.

Most awesome tour and guide! - This was the perfect start to our weekend! Our guide Mike was so entertaining and knowledgeable! It’s clear how much he loves this area and cares about the animals! We got to see so many ponies and dolphins! Highly recommended!!! Thank you!!!

Best boat tour! - Excellent experience! Mike knows where the ponies are. I never thought we would get so close. He is a local and has a lot of knowledge of the area and the ponies! Only 5 of us on this 2 hour trip.

Incredible Pony Experience - Mike was such an incredible and friendly guide. His love and knowledge of the ponies showed in his excitement at sharing the names and stories about each pony. I would highly recommend Up the Bay for an up close and personal pony experience.

Family Wildlife Cruise - We had an amazing time this week on our Wildlife tour. From the time our family arrived Captain Mike was welcoming and personable. We loved hearing his experiences of growing on the island and his knowledge of the herds. We loved seeing the horses so close, hearing him talking about photographing them and the history of the horses. In the words of the teenager - “I liked that Captain Mike was interesting and not boring with to much history”

Amazing experience - Mike is the best! Love going out with him, he makes sure that you always enjoy yourself. We went out today, saw ponies, dolphins, brown pelicans, and even a sea turtle, which was unexpected! Mike knows the island’s history since he grew up here and tells stories. I highly recommend going on a boat tour with him, you will be glad you did!

A Perfect Day - As first time visitors, we scheduled this tour for our first day hoping to learn about the area, see the Ponies and enjoy local wildlife. This tour was just perfect! Our Captain was so knowledgeable. He went out of his way to show us the Ponies, dolphins and he even spotted a turtle! We learned about local history as well as getting a taste of what it’s like to grow up on the island. This added another level of understanding about this beautiful area!
