Everything was perfect! - We had our transfer on 19 Feb 2019 from Civitavecchia harbor to Rome city. We booked online our places. Tariff was a lot cheaper than what offers we received on the ship. The personal was very nice, the buses were all there. In the bus, we had a very cool guide, which told us that we could book the Rome tour with them for 10 euros extra per person. Everything was calculated at minute, so that we reach in time back to our ship. When we reached back from Rome, it was a little bit chaos at the harbor, but, in the end, everything end up very well.

Great price and deal - I cruised into the port and this was the most economic way into Rome. I wish we had more time in Rome than a few short hours but this was very economical and convenient. The ship offered transportation into Rome but it was almost double the price! Relaxing and easy to get on and off plus they were very good about informing us where to meet to be picked up and dropped off!

Extra payment - Good way to see the city but I think we were conned into paying an extra 5 euros each to be dropped off at the coliseum which turned out to be before the Vatican stop! I suspect the driver and rep shared it. Bus was a mini bus so very cramped for 6ft+ family. However a fraction of the cost of cruise tours.

Choose if you want a superficial overview of Rome - We departed from the cruise port and the staff held a sign for €10 to Rome, however this was completely fake as the actual cost when talking to the staff they stated it was the wrong price and it was €22. After boarding the bus, the guide Mary announced the price as €25 with a stop at 4 different landmarks. At the Vatican stop, she rushed off the bus with all 30+ tourists and it was hectic, cross crossing through the manic crowds in 38C heat. My sister and I are runners so we were able to keep up although it was silly given that this was supposed to be a vacation! My elderly parents felt overwhelmed and had to stop halfway. Mary’s pace was ridiculous and completely ignorant to travelers needs. She did the same at the stop for Piazza Navona. She also promoted lunch at La Scaletta degli Artisti for €16- don’t take this option!! Food was average and service was lousy! If you want a very speedy and superficial overview of Rome then choose this tour company. The only upside to this tour were other friendly tourists on the bus.

Disappointed with the service - The staff were at the cruise port but there was no clear area to gather for the bus. We weren't notified when our bus was there, we only noticed a group leaving and realised that it was our group. The bus was late leaving which meant we had less time to spend in Rome. There was no-one on the bus who spoke English which made the communication on meeting points and the time difficult. We weren't given a map and no drinks were available on the bus. When we were leaving no-one checked who was on the bus.

Do not count on them for transport!!!!!!!!!! - Provide the service we paid for. They cancelled the bus on our return to Rome after the cruise leaving us stuck to find other transportation. No assistance offered to help us. Should not advertise service that you cancel because you did not fill the bus, get a smaller bus. Their were 5 in our party alone.

DO NOT USE CIVATOURS - My first vacation, first cruise, first excursion and travelling alone. Scheduled to leave at 9:30, a guide came on and spoke only in Spanish (I do not speak) 25 minutes later I asked if we were leaving soon, the two guides Della and ? said we would stay later to make up the time (however this cannot be done since we must return to the ship). Finally moving and each one of the guides took turns screaming at me about how selfish I was. They then suggested I get off on the side of the highway! What they failed to explain was they had merged two tours on the same bus and had no regard for the timetable or the service I over paid for. I was charged the equivalent of 50 euros by Shore Excursions Group, it is 19 euros at the Port. I took the train back to the ship rather than endure any more abuse. I was then offered a 15 % refund by Shore Excursions!
