Highlights
  • Verde Canyon Railroad - It’s not the destination, it’s the journey! Enjoy a luxurious train ride through a 20-mile wilderness area, along a wild and scenic river, only accessible by rail. For 3.5-hours, enjoy comfort and style, exceptional amenities and outstanding service in vintage rail cars on a century-old route. Wind your way through a red rock paradise, with tracks that hug the curves of the Verde River. Every season offers a different reason to ride!
Astonishing views of a wild and vibrant frontier, historic trestles, bridges and a 7000-foot tunnel are just a few of the highlights tucked into unusual rock formations, red rock pinnacles and towering crimson cliffs.
Majestic bald eagles and hawks float effortlessly on the breeze above Javelina, wild burros, jackrabbits and many other Canyon creatures, peacefully coexisting with this heritage railroad for more than 100 years.
  • Verde Canyon Railroad - At the depot, be sure to visit the John Bell Museum, home to the railroad’s history and artifacts from its early days, as well as a wealth of information on Clarkdale, Jerome and the Yavapai-Apache Nation.
  • Verde River - The train runs on the same tracks that were created following the Verde River back in 1911. The river is visible for most of your journey.
  • S O B Canyon - SOB Canyon and the 150 ft tall bridge are highlights of the trip. Looking back from the bridge and down the canyon is simply gorgeous!

A great date idea! - We had such a great time! My favorite parts were that they had tables for 2 on one side of the train and tables for 4 on the other side. This is great because if you're there for a date you have a bit of privacy or if you're there as a family you have a bit of room to spread out. Loved going through the tunnel in the open air car and seeing the beautiful canyon. Byron was amazing and taught us quite a bit about the history and surrounding areas.

Great excursion into the desert - I took the Verde Canyon Railroad experience with my 81 yo father who has lived in Cottonwood for over 30 years and he never had this experience! My sister and I greatly enjoyed the comfortable accommodation with the table and couches. The staff was very accommodating as my Dad could not walk to our originally assigned car, they changed it quickly and with a smile. The food was delicious and the scenery, with live historical narration was fascinating. Shay was our bartender and she was fun and amazing! Byron was informative and we enjoyed his dry sense of humor! Highly recommended!!

Verde RR journey - Me and my girl just had a very good time. Enjoyed it very much. Our host was kind, friendly and very knowledgeable if I had any setbacks to say about it a little on the pricey side, but I understand with today’s economy thanks for a great time
