Renan is a terrific guide for the University Tour! - I thoroughly enjoyed my university and town tour. My guide, Renan, made it so. He has so much knowledge and passion for history that comes through in every word. He was very entertaining and not a script reader. I highly recommend this tour…especially if Renan is your guide.

Excellent tour, wonderful guide!! - Felipe gave us one of the very best walking tours we've had (over a dozen countries!). So knowledgeable! He speaks excellent English, has a great sense of humor and an extremely engaging manner to convey information clearly and easily...not just reciting a transcript. If you are really interested in history, especially of the University (and you MUST go to the library), you can't find a better tour. Really superb!!

Undoubtedly the best tour of an interesting place! - This is a wonderfully historically interesting and beautiful place to visit, though in September it was mobbed. There were only three people in our group--compared to many many folks in others--and though that may be the case just because this is a new company aspiring to also have many many people on their tours, for now this was just the best. Especially because of our young Coimbra born, bred, and educated (M.A. in English) guide, Philip, who is knowledgeable about town and gown from medieval times to today. Can't recommend more highly!

What a great guide to a terrifically interesting site - Turns out that September and October are total high season for visiting this part of Portugal, so there were lots of tour groups making this visit at the same time as ours. And those other tour groups had many many participants. OUR GROUP HAD THREE. Though this may be the case because this is a new company, and their goal is to have many many participants as well, for now this is just the best! Our guide, Phillip, is a young lifelong resident of Coimbra with an M.A. in English from the university; he could not have been better. Knowledgeable about the history of the university from its medieval beginnings to contemporary times, he was also gracious and friendly. (In my case, because I'd mistakenly linked to another one of those tour groups and was a half hour late connecting with him, I think he did a lovely job of filling me in without boring the other couple in the group.) Great activity for an afternoon, though I'd recommend going off-season.

Best Tour Ever - This was the best tour that we have ever attended! Renan was fantastic, very personable, friendly and especially knowledgeable. Think of this more as a history lesson of all of Portugal as it relates to Coimbra. Renan was able to show us the architecture (art history), the history and the cultural significance all while being funny and relatable. I don’t know how it could have been better. The small group (8) made it easy to ask questions. We LOVED it!

Great Way to get a First-hand Experience Experience - Felipe was an outstanding guide who spoke very good English. He was very knowledgeable about the history and culture of the University, Coimbra, and surrounding cities of Tomar, Fatima, Porto, and Lisbon related to the evolution of Coimbra. My husband and I highly recommend this tour, it was worth the cost.
