Many more thrilling sights await to arrest your journey and accelerate your heartbeat.

A sum of 32 mammalian species have been identified. Among these are threatened species such as sloth bear (Melursus ursinus), Leopard (Panthera pardus) kotiya, elephant (Elephas maximus), water buffalo (Bubalus bubalis), Wild boar (Sus scrofa), spotted deer (Axis axis ceylonessis), sambar (Cervus unicolor) and golden jackal (Canis aureus).

Given its previous use as farming land, the area abounds in open grassland, making elephant spotting convenient. Moreover, a teak plantation extends south of the boundary, below the dam, established prior to the park’s formal declaration.
