Additional Information

Danish folklore is rich with mythical creatures that stretch beyond the famous Little Mermaid character, popularised by H. C. Andersen. The Danish lore is filled with beings such as cannibalistic trolls, treasure-guarding dragons at odds with bulls, the symbolic wild men shown on the royal emblem, and the odd aquatic entity called the ”Sea Bishop”. These mythical beings also occupy Copenhagen’s centre, the city’s busiest touristic area, often appearing as statues, relief sculptures, and architectural artwork.

Despite their presence, most of these creatures remain largely unnoticed by tourists. Now, you have the opportunity to deepen your understanding of these folklore creatures through a self-guided GPS audio journey named HidDenmark Monstour VoiceMap. This guide, once downloaded on your smartphone, will navigate you from Tivoli amusement park, through the Copenhagen Stock Exchange, and towards the city’s canals - all the while unveiling how horrifying tales of bizarre creatures have influenced the nation’s capital.

Off beat tour - I loved and can not say enough great things about this tour. It was full of off beat statues, locations and information. It was unlike any other self guided or group tour I took on my trip. If you like sites that are not usually visited this tour is for you.

entertaining and informative experience!! - the narrator was very clear with the directions and had a kind intonation. the recording also gave us as much time to look at the places as we wanted, continuing the guide only after we started moving again, which provided a chill experience! the stories shared were very interesting and fun to learn about! we had a great time walking around the streets of copenhagen, discovering the many hidden gems with the guide!!

If you like folklore this tour is an absolute must! - It takes you around the city of Copenhagen and ,even though we already spend two days prior in the city centre, with this tour you see the sculptures and buildings through a whole different view. We loved that we good take our own pace since it's not a physical guide and group dynamic but a audiotape and a map. So we could take our time to discuss what the audio guide told us without feeling the pressure of a group waiting. It worked surprisingly well (we never did an audio tour before so we were a bit sceptic).

Walk to discover Danish legends - A good way to get closer to Danish legends while walking around Copenhagen. We visited modern neighborhoods that we would not have seen without this treasure hunt.

Nice tour, but nothing to write home about - Nice tour to walk around the city and see some sights that are sometimes easily missed. Is it a replacement for an actual walking tour? Not really, as depending on your phone, it can be a janky experience. But it's good value for your money and you learn some interesting facts!

Excellent and interesting tour - This audio tour was great! A fun way to see and explore more of the city. It was both interesting and entertaining. Easy to follow and great technology. Would have loved to have had some actual folk stories told during some of the walking parts to fully fill out this tour. Enjoyed it very much!

Not as interesting as it sounds, but worth the money - Two questions should be asked about the "Monstour tour:" Is it good, and is it worth the money? These two questions, which are usually inseparable, get opposite answers in this case due to the relatively low price. In fact, the tour offers very little of what it promised (Danish Folk Legends), with too many pauses in between the statues (many of them are already unavailable or damaged). However, it can help you to get acknowledged with a bit of the history and city's geography. So, the tour can be helpful if it is your first day in Copenhagen.
