Cortona gained significant recognition a few years back, a popularity credited to Frances Mayes’ book titled Under the Tuscan Sun. The story (which was later made into a film starring Diane Lane) is set in Cortona, and portrays the protagonist’s instant adoration for the city, its inhabitants, and Villa Bramasole which she buys and renovates.

Cortona is a special place! - The original person got caught in traffic, so substituted someone else. She was great! She grew up in Cortona and provided a ton of information on the history. Highly recommend!

Great tour of Cortona with Valeria - We had a great tour with Valeria. It was wonderful to see Cortona through the eyes of someone whose family has been here for generations. Even though we have been here before, since she was a local, she took us to some great places that we didn’t know existed. She was incredibly gracious (even though we were a bit late) and showed us all over town. Thank you Valeria!

Excellent Tour of Cortona - Personable and knowledgeable, Laura gave us an excellent walking tour of Cortona. With a historical perspective of the Etruscan, Roman and Renaissance eras to recent times, she pointed out everything from the Etruscan stone walls to good restaurants and shopping opportunities.

An outstanding walking tour - Taking the walking tour with Pamela the history and politics of the town came alive. Pamela was passionate, informative and entertaining. Her knowledge spanned history, art religion and local culture. My three siblings and partners took this tour and Pamela accommodated all our questions. We highly recommend this tour.

Insider Info - We loved getting an insider’s view of this beautiful medieval town - and a private tour of a locked underground cistern too. The personable guide spoke great English, and made this a friendly and fun few hours of strolling.
