Highlights
  • Irazu Volcano National Park - The tour will begin with us trekking south along the Panamerican Highway until we reach the base of the behemoth “Iztaru” (a name of an indigenous village that was situated on the flanks of the volcano, and a likely candidate as a possible origin for the current name of the Irazu Volcano).

The winding road traverses fertile lands in which all types and forms of vegetation are cultivated, all the while affording us a spectacular panoramic view of the surrounding hills and valleys. And, at the very top of the summit, on a clear day, one can be privy to an unforgettable bird’s eye view of both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

  • Jardin Botanico Lankester - we will stop at the Lankester Gardens, a University of Costa Rica Center for investigation that protects more than 800 species of orchids, bromeliads and countless species of other plants.
  • Orosi River Valley - Valley of Orosi, an area that overflows with unparallel beauty. We will be able to visit one of the few remaining colonial churches and we will stop to enjoy a scrumptious typical lunch at one of the local restaurants.

Recommendable - It was well organized. The guide spoke English and was telling us a bit about the country, culture and nature. At the different sites he always gave us like a small introduction and then let us walk around on our own. If we had any questions we could ask him when being back at the bus. Along the fascinating volcano and Lancester Botanical Gardens and the beautiful Orosi valley we also stopped at some nice viewpoints. And the food in the restaurant was delicious.

High-school trip - The experience was great, the gardens were gorgeous and unbelievable to the eyes,as well as the volcano. Our tourist guide explain to us a lot of things about the country and were they came from, like old bills, national symbols... After a long day with my friends and teachers,I enjoyed everything pretty much.

The weather wasn't their fault - See the view in the photo? I didn't get to see that because it was cloudy. You can't blame them for that. So the volcano was a bust. The Orosi portion. Yeah....there was goood points and their was bad points. The stop in to see the church was gorgeous, one should see it. HOWEVER: They drop you off six blocks from the church so that you have to walk to it. No problem there, I don't mind the walk. What I DID mind was the "forced death march". You are walking past six blocks worth of interesting little shops and stuff, and they are rushing you so that you don't get to stop in and look around. I would have liked to stop in and look around. The lunch by the lake in Orosi: The food was "meh", the coffee was great, and the picturesque view was spectacular. Great place to take a photo as a couple. Like, seriously beautiful. The Lankester church was interesting, although its graveyard was also interesting. I also felt rushed there. The Lankaster plant place was pretty. My wife loved it. I didn't care about it in the slightest and was bored to death. I don't care about plants. Overall this is a good tour, but is way too 'rushed', they don't let you stop and smell the roses or see the sights.

Great trip, but..... - It was a great trip, however, it would have been great that the booking agent would have mentioned that it is important to go prepared for cold weather. It was windy and temperatures where around 36 degrees Fahrenheit. The guide Martin, was exceptional providing great information and tips. Leaving the cold mishaps, overall it was a fun experience.

Not so interesting - This tour is sadly not as interesting as it seems, so we were a bit disappointed. Lunch was average and not as tasty as other local restaurants we tried on different tours. Antonio, however, is a nice, knowledgeable guide and careful driver. We enjoyed his company, although he is a bit slow paced and old fashioned for young, energetic people like us. We feel like he would be a better match for people aged 50+, who enjoy to take it slow and not walk too much. Overall, we feel this tour is overpriced for what it offers.

Not cooperative at all - Our flight got canceled so we were stuck in the US. That‘s why we couldn‘t participate. When we asked for a refund they didn‘t even give us half od the costs back. Not cooperative at all! Even after we explained to them our side of the story.
