Highlights
  • Bunratty Castle and Folk Park - After arriving to Limerick, we head out to Bunratty Castle. The castle was completed in 1425 and, after many years of neglect, has been restored to its former glory. There is a folk park here and many of the buildings
  • including the village
  • were dismantled at various locations in the region and rebuilt, brick by brick, at their present location.
  • Cliffs of Moher - Enjoy some free time at the Cliffs of Moher - among some of the highest sea cliffs in Europe.
  • The Burren - From the Cliffs of Moher, we take the coast road for much of the way to Galway, with time for photos along The Burren. This is a national park and the word Burren comes from the Irish Language and means
  • rocky place
-. It is a unique lunar landscape of limestone. Today the Burren is noted for its diverse flora with few parallels elsewhere in Ireland or, indeed, Europe. As time permits, we will make a short stop here for photographs.
  • Eyre Square - Traffic dependent, there will be some free time upon your arrival in Galway to get some dinner and look at some shops, etc.

Ian the Great - Excellent day all around. Ian of Railtours Ireland was knowledgeable and engaging, and very much a joy to have as our guide for the day. Pubs along the way had delicious food, beer and Irish coffee. The Cliffs were obviously the highlight, and a cannot miss place. Highly recommend the travel by rail as there was often more room to relax (with bathrooms!) than on a coach. Would absolutely recommend this trip and any experience with Railtours Ireland.

Great tour! - We had an awesome time on this tour! The views were amazing (it did help that the weather was beautiful as well) and all the tour guides were very knowledgeable and helpful. When my father left his phone on the bus at the end of the day our guides Jerry and Peter went the extra mile to call the bus and get his phone back for him before the train ride back to Dublin. We were really appreciative of their efforts! I would definitely book this tour again and highly recommend it for anyone looking to book a tour in Ireland.

Great tour, highly recommend! - John Todd was an excellent tour guide! He was knowledgeable, humorous and helpful throughout the day. We really enjoyed this tour of Ireland. We started the day on the train to Limerick, had a great time at the castle, and loved seeing the cliffs! The cliffs were absolutely stunning - worth the trip alone. The lunch food was authentic and absolutely delicious! We liked how we had free time at each location to explore on our own. We felt it was a really good mix of free time vs guided tour. It is a long day, but my family really enjoyed it. We highly recommend!

An amazing experience! John Todd was the best guide! - I was on this tour on Saturday June 15th and it was one of the best tours I have been on!! John Todd was our tour guide and he was absolutely amazing and so nice! John took the time to talk to us on the train and get to know where we were all from as well as teach us a lot about Ireland! The Cliffs of Moer was the definite highlight of the trip and I will surely be back! I would definitely recommend booking this tour! Thank you John for such an amazing day!

Once in a lifetime experience with great people and no stress - One word to summarize this… WOW!! John T. was our guide, and he went above and beyond in making sure we saw everything there was to see. Michael was our driver and he was a PRO. I’ll admit, I was a little nervous as a solo female traveler, but it was so seamless. I showed up a Heuston and saw John in his yellow coat immediately when I walked in, and we were blessed with amazing weather as soon as we left Dublin. If you are traveling alone (or with a group) and want to see all there is to see in Ireland, this is your sign! It’s worth every penny

Regretting we did not take a tour of only the cliffs. - We regretted this choice . The castle was very commercialized and not unique except for the grounds. We very much enjoyed the cliffs. Everything else in between was not worth a 15 hour day with time in Galway limited to 90 minutes for a quick bite and no time to visit the historic area . I do not recommend this particular venue.

Lack of info - departure information is buried in the site, leading to missed tour with no refund. No effort made to contact when we were looking for meeting place. Very disappointing.
