Highlights
  • 5 McNulty Inlet - Our company is a Qualmark Gold accredited Operator.

Cycle one of NZ’s Great Ride Routes from Cromwell to Clyde on one of our brand new fleet of bikes. After the ride you then return to where you left your car on the Dunstan Explorer Boat. Luxury shuttles required are included.

A 42km ride on an excellent trail - with a very good surface. We strongly recommend selecting the e-bike option. Regular bike riders should be a fit cyclist (regularly riding) and easily able to complete the Trail.

This is a self guided bike ride. You will move along the trail at the speed of your own group. Riders should be 15 years and older (our oldest rider so far has been nearly 80), fit and confident on a bike.

This is a great trip for family and friends. The e-bikes allow you to choose your own ‘assistance’ levels (including ‘off’) ensuring the group stays together along the trail.

With great places to stop along the way including Carrick Winery, Burger Afloat and a quick celebratory drink in historic Clyde before your shuttle and boat back to Cromwell.

Single Riders will be waitlisted. If you are a single rider we will contact you as soon as possible to confirm your booking.

Additional Information

This path borders Lake Dunstan, positioned on the side opposite to the road connecting Cromwell and Clyde.

Constructing this pathway required breathtaking engineering, incorporating 450m of components that cling to cliff surfaces at certain points, the notable Hugo Suspension Bridge, and a consistently high-quality route surface for the entire journey.

The awe-inspiring views and landscapes that this route offers are truly magnificent. Through the informative boards scattered along the path, the region’s history - from the gold rush era to the establishment of New Zealand’s largest dam - becomes crystal clear.

Choosing the Dunstan Explorer Boat for your return journey offers an excellent opportunity to explore sections of the trail unseen from your bicycle.

Our enterprise is committed to collaborating with the Dunstan Explorer to ensure our guests have unforgettable moments.

Dunstan Trail - James was very helpful as first contact and booking taker, and Dan provided a great service with door-to-door shuttle transfers ex Wanaka, bike set-up, ride advice and friendly chat. Bikes were excellent, and the ride itself spectacular. Enjoyable and informative boat trip with Andrew returning Clyde to Cromwell. Highly recommended.

Great ride! Great tour company and GREAT service - This was an exceptional trip! Dan was an exceptional tour guide. Everything ran super smoothly. The trail is really something! A lot of surprises, the track along the water is amazing. The track is also a challenge. We loved the diversity of scenery, the diversity of challenges, the ease of being set up on great bikes with a great tour guide, and we really liked the boat ride back. It is an option, but the operator is so nice. He gave us a great bit of history and it was really fun to look back at the trail, the bridge crossings and take it all in. We had a great lunch in Clyde -- the whole day was just perfect, really. I highly recommend.

Get day and well organized buy nzbike tours - Super impressed with NZbiketours. Highly recommend. Great set up and service. Total professionals. Quality ebkkes and well serviced. You ride a distance from the start where they meet you and make sure the bikes are performing to standard before they let you loose.

Great views and semi challenging ride! - Having just completed the Alps to Ocean ride we craved for more cycling adventures. This package tour of a 40 odd km ride and boat ride back to the start was excellent. Everything was well organised and ran smoothly. The stop at the cafe/winery early in the ride was great. The ride itself was spectacular and a tad scary in sections too so you need to concentrate. The pathways over the water were cool to ride. There are a few tough sections to negotiate if you opt for no E bike. Highly recommend this tour.
