Additional Information

Your exploration begins in Tipón, a well-preserved archaeological location situated 27 kilometers away from Cusco city. Nearby the similarly named town that boasts an impressive rural colonial mansion from 1650, you’ll find 12 still-cultivated terraces, assorted structures, and a still-employed irrigation system regarded as a hydraulic engineering marvel. Your journey continues to Pikillacta, a site related to the Wari culture, forebears to the Incas. The area features 700 structures spread over 3,000 hectares, housing stone and mud constructs of up to three stories, well-crafted terraces, and a condor-shaped carving on a rock. Lastly, you’ll head to Andahuaylillas, a village 40 kilometers from Cusco, home to the Church of Andahuaylillas. Referred to as The American Sistine Chapel because of its valuable art pieces, it currently preserves an original, recently renovated pipe organ. From here, your expedition will loop back to Cusco.

A vibrant and informative half-day excursion! - I took this tour yesterday and saw some amazing places. Danny, my tour guide, was extremely accommodating and we even customized the route a bit! He knew so much about the history of the sites we went to and was very easy to talk to. If you have a free morning and want to explore some Inka and colonial landmarks outside of Cusco, this is a great tour for you!
