Additional Information

Your journey commences at Palccoyo, setting the stage for the splendid 7-colored mountain, Vinicunca. Palccoyo itself holds a mesmerizing blend of colors varying from pink to fuchsia. This incredible display has been shaped by a combination of red clay, mud, sand, and a touch of off-white sandstone (quartz sand) and limestone. These elements, over countless years, have layered up, resulting in a visually captivating masterpiece.

Contrasted with the strenuous trek to Vinicunca, the path to the Palccoyo mountain series is comparatively mild and manageable. It involves a comfortable 45-minute stroll with scarce steep inclines, topping out at a peak elevation of 4,900 meters above ocean level. From this viewpoint, guests are privileged to panoramic views of the region’s past glacial landscapes, inclusive of the imposing Nevado (mountain summit) in the Cusco region, known as Ausangate. In addition, the area presents opportunities to spot camelids like alpacas and llamas, which further enrich the overall journey.

Wonderful and challenging hike with unbelievable view of Rainbow mountain. - I had an incredible experience. The guide JC was amazing. He was so patient, kind and informed. I was nervous about going as I’m not great with high altitude. However, the hike went much better than I could have ever anticipated.
