The Cerro Colorado, also known as the Mountain of 7 Colors or Rainbow Mountain, is situated in Vinicunca, within the Quipicanchis province of the Cusco department. The mountain’s geological structures display their magnificent colors in stark contrast to the blue sky, forming a dramatic division between the coastal desert and the Amazon rainforest. The Vinicunca mountains, part of the striking Vilcanota mountain range, possess a natural coloring due to erosion of sedimentary rocks. The arrangement of these rocks resulting in a vibrant spectrum of seven colors is truly awe-inspiring. The mountain stands at a substantial height of approximately 5,000 meters above sea level. The Mountain of Seven Colors or Vinincunca is a major tourist attraction you should not miss when visiting Peru. It is named among the top 100 places around the globe to visit before you die, offering an extraordinary testament to the vigor of life.
