Highlights
  • Dendera Temple Complex - At 7:00 am, our Egypt Best Vacation tour guide will take you in an air-conditioned vehicle to the Dendera Temple, located about 55 KM north of Luxor and 4 KM from the river. This site was a major cult center for the goddess Hathor, the deity of maternity, joy, music, and love, whom the Greeks equated with Aphrodite. The complex features numerous structures from various periods of Egyptian history, but the most prominent today is the Greco-Roman Hathor temple, primarily built between 54 and 29 BC. Visitors can explore the columned halls, underground chambers, and stairways of this well-preserved building, which is adorned with hieroglyphic inscriptions.

Then, continue your journey further north to Abydos, one of the oldest cities in ancient Egypt and the center of worship for Osiris, the god of the underworld. Abydos is renowned for the memorial Temple of Seti I, which includes an inscription from the 19th dynasty known today as the Abydos King List.
