We meet in front of the historical building of Shi-Lian-Dong(十連棟). Chef Alex will share your local stories throughout the alleys of Dadaocheng. And then in the traditional market, you’ll also have the opportunity to taste authentic traditional delicacies and know local ingredients.

Sometimes, you might want to chat with the owners of the vendors. Why not? We call it the Taiwanese experience.

After the walking tour, we go to our cooking studio for the Taiwanese gourmet cooking class.

  • Thursday | Colorful dumplings, noodles, & Hot and Sour Soup | 彩色餃子/麵條&酸辣湯 - You will learn how to make dumplings and noodles from flours to doughs. We dye the flours with natural ingredients.
    And the popular Hot and Sour soup.

  • Friday | Taiwanese Risotto Youfan & Gongwantan Meat Balls soup | 台灣傳統油飯&貢丸湯 - Youfan used to be a gift to friends to celebrate a newborn baby’s 1st birthday. Now combined with Gongwangtan, is a popular breakfast for locals.

  • Saturday | Jiujia Men’s Club dish, Squid soup & Fried Rice Noodles | 酒家菜魷魚螺肉蒜炒米粉 - Jiujia(酒家), used to be a men’s club. The creative dish was made to push alcohol sales by a smart chef. We learn rice noodles in the Taiwanese way, too

  • Sunday | Luroufan & Garlic Pork Thick Soup | 台灣滷肉飯&蒜味肉羹湯 - Undoubtedly Luroufan, the braised pork rice is one of Taiwan’s most iconic foods. Perfect enjoy with the garlic-flavored meat thick soup.

10 minutes before the class, we meet at the Central Entrance of the Shi Lian Dong (十連棟, which means 10 connecting buildings), 台北市大同區迪化街一段356號， a historical architectural complex, Alex will lead you into the community where Taipei Cooking Kitchen is located.

Taiwan Alex’s Cooking Session + History of DaTaoCheng - It’s a wonderful experience. We can share, learn, and laugh during the cooking session. Alex is a patient and details person who likes to share his cooking experience and skill on each dishes. He bought us to the TaiPengMarket, shared the famous food with us. Tell us about DaTaoCheng history start from the beginning of people came from China to this place. I like it so much, great place, nice people to meet up here. Well recommended!

Awesome event! - The scenery of Dadaocheng is beautiful! I like this antique street scene, and the hospitable Taipei chef teacher is also very kind. Visiting the vegetable market, listening to historical stories and cooking activities are all very interesting~ I think it is worth it and I can give it 100 points~~ Thank you teacher! Worth a second visit! It is also recommended to everyone who likes humanities, history, and cooking to participate!

Hospitality Taipei - A fun cooking class in Dadaocheng - Teacher Alex is very attentive. During class, he tells a lot of historical stories and cooking knowledge. He also takes us to nearby markets to let us know more about Taiwan’s local culture, which is an experience that ordinary tourists rarely have. If you come to Taipei and want a special experience, you can sign up for a cooking class with a teacher 😂 The teacher is very nice~

good - Teacher Alex is very friendly. The whole lesson is interesting and fun. The braised pork rice I cooked myself is delicious. Great! My friends and I had a great time. I will come back to participate in other cooking projects next time. Everyone can support it…… ...

Great course - I took the „Jiujia Men Club Dish squid soup and fried rice noodles“ cooking class. We started with a tour around the market and some history about the district and then proceeded to the kitchen. The kitchen space itself was very nice and comfortable. Everything was very well prepared so that we could get quickly into chopping. Alex speaks great English, was fun to talk with and explained the ingredients and cooking methods. I like that the ingredients were not too special, so that I’ll have a chance to cook this at home in Germany. I even got tips for souvenir shopping.

Famous Taiwanese cuisine---Braised Pork Rice and Pork Soup Cooking Experience Class - The first complete cooking experience in my life was a cooking class dedicated to teacher Alex! Thank you to the teacher for providing a comfortable cooking space and a relaxing and pleasant cooking environment. He carefully helped me make braised pork rice and meat soup from scratch step by step. It also gave me a better understanding of Dadaocheng. Everyone is welcome to come to Taipei and come and experience it together! !
