Highlights
  • Chandni Chowk - The tour kicks off 12pm from outside Chandni Chowk Metro Gate 5 where you’ll be greeted by your foodie guide.

You can’t do anything without a blessing, so the first stop at a Hindu temple gets you set for the day. Start with a small bowl of soaked vadas covered in creamy yogurt and topped with pomegranate seeds, something you’ll have never seen in any Indian takeaway back home.

Walking with your guide, they’ll explain local life and give you an idea of the foodie scene in Old Delhi. In quick succession, you’ll grab a clay cup of sweet frothy lasse before working your way over the finest jalebi in India.

As you let your food settle, you’ll dive into an enormous Sikh temple to take a tour of their 24-hour kitchen which feeds over 30,000 Delhites from all walks of life every single day. Try your hand at making chapattis and stirring enormous pots big enough to feed an army.

Now it’s time to jump into the maze of Old Delhi. Your guide will take you on a walking tour around the narrow streets carefully negotiating passing cows, cycle rickshaws and tiny vendors where you’ll stop to try titbits like pani puris, tasty pakoras and stuffed parathas from a little place that’s been churning them out for almost a century. If you travel in winter, you may even be able to have a taste of a Delhi specialty - a white mousse-like dish covered in saffron and nuts that’s often described as being as fluffy as a cloud.

Your guide will lead you up the steps to a secret little restaurant that’s got no sign outside to try one of the best paneer masala curries in the city, before washing it down with a masala lime soda nearby.

Continue weaving through the winding back alleys until you hit the fragrant spice market. After a walk and talk about the spices and herbs used in Indian cuisine, you’ll head up some secret steps to a magnificent rooftop overlooking the spice market and the rest of Delhi. Take some time to relax, take photos and sip on tea delivered to the roof by a local chaiwalla.

Rested up, it’s on to the final leg where you’ll try several deserts including a carrot halva and a traditionally Mughal dish made from vermicelli noodles topped with a creamy nutty layer.

As you walk back to the Chandni Chowk Metro, your guide will have a paan made for you - a betal leaf filled with dried fruits, syrups and other good things. The perfect end to your foodie adventure in Delhi.

Great tour, great tourguide! - Since street food is of course one of the main attractions of Delhi, I was really looking forward to this tour. My partner and son preferred not to come, so I did the tour solo. The tour guide, Ranveer, did an excellent job and the tour took close to three hours.

So so so good - This was one of the best tours I’ve done in any country. It was informative, value for money, and the food was absolutely incredible. You learn not just about the food but about culture, religion, customs and the people. The tour is well structured so you can walk and digest - but you do get a lot of food. Highly highly recommended.

Great food tour with a great guide! - We arrived slightly earlier than the time and our guide was there to meet us. Gajendra was brilliant! He had brilliant English, good knowledge of the city and food and had a good sense of humour. All the food places we went to were hygienic and very delicious. We walked around the city in a group.

YOU HAVE TO DO THIS! - We had such a fun time on their food tour in Mumbai, we knew we had to do the one in Delhi as well. The Delhi food tour is fantastic! We had so much fun discovering hidden gems we never would have found on our own! So many of the dishes and drinks I know I’ll be dreaming about for years! 😍 It’s perfect to get a taste of Delhi’s street without any risk.

Do not miss this opportunity. The best food tour in Delhi!!! - Gajendra Singh from A Chef's Tour Delhi Was incredible. We ate some of the best Indian food I have ever eaten and learned so much about Indian culture, history, and food. If you are coming to Delhi, do not miss this tour!!! Wear comfortable shoes as you’ll do a lot of walking but he will take you places you would never find on your own. It was over 100 degrees on the day of our trip and he made sure we always had water to stay hydrated. A truly unique one of a kind experience that gave me goosebumps. This was my first trip to India, and when I return I’m going to go on this tour again. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. - Torrey from the USA

Highly recommend - We had a great time in the tour. Ranveer showed us all kinds of different foods (we didn't get sick afterwards). We also visited the Sikh tempel and its kitchen, which we thought was a wonderful addition to the tour. All and all, it is a nice way to explore Old Delhi. One of the food stops was soo nice we even went back the following day!

Great food tour! - The tour was really good! We have travelled through India for three weeks but there was a lot of food on the tour that we hadn't seen or tasted anywhere else. It was a great selection of different food and a great experience to visit so many locations and get to know Old Delhi. I would recommend to bring a mask or different face cover for the visit to the spice market to protect yourself from the spice dust there.

Cool tour. - The tour was amazing. A balanced selection of authentic Indian dishes each with different tastes and spice configurations. This gives one a good overview of very basic Indian dishes in general, from meals to snack bites. The tour guide Ranveer did a wonderful job to guide the group around with the utmost humbleness and courtesy. He was also very considerate to group members' requests and mindful of their safety and comfort during the tour. A good tip to make this tour worth the complete 5 stars is to have the guides gain more detailed knowledge of: the dishes their history, the story behind some of the locations visited and the reasons how several cultural/religious traditions came to be.
