Highlights
  • Jama Masjid - Constructed by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan from 1644 to 1656, it was inaugurated by its first Imam, Syed Abdul Ghafoor Shah Bukhari. Located in the Mughal capital of Shahjahanabad (now Old Delhi), it served as the imperial mosque for the Mughal emperors until the empire’s fall in 1857. The Jama Masjid symbolized Islamic power in India well into the colonial period and held political significance during key moments of British rule. It remains an active place of worship and is one of Delhi’s most iconic landmarks, embodying the spirit of Old Delhi.
