Zakhira tour - Santan was a wonderful guide through the Zakhira slum area. We felt very comfortable with him leading us through the alleys of the area. It is important for me to show respect to the people living in these areas and it was clear that this was of utmost importance to Santan as well. He provided great information about the area, the people living there and their daily life activities. I would recommend Santan’s tour to anyone interested in seeing another side of Delhi. This is not a “fun” tour but an important informative eye opening experience.

Brilliant - One of the most moving and fascinating tours we have ever taken around the world. I went with my 10 year old son and it was a real eye opener. We met the most beautiful, welcoming, friendly souls in the "slum" Our guide was very informative and respectful

A deeply meaningful morning - We easily met Santan at the agreed time and he organised a short rickshaw ride to the area we were visiting. As we entered, it was clear Santan has a lovely relationship with the people who live there and it was a chatting to the community type tour. We felt very welcomed and we were offered delicious chai and henna painting on our hand. We particularly enjoyed meeting the people of the community and to see the smiles on the kids faces were everything. It was also very sweet to talk to the children and hear their names - we took along plenty of sweets and handed them out (they particularly liked lollipops!). Note there is also lots of shops / stalls within the area that you can buy from and give out. It was good to hear from Santan how money from the tour is reinvested back into helping members of the community - he is clearly a very kind and selfless individual. Even though it was a very hot day (in the 40s) most of the areas were in the shade, so don’t let warm weather put you off. If you would like an alternative experience from the ‘tourist traps’ and are open and respectful of how other people live, I would 100% recommend.

An Unforgettable Experience - Santan was an outstanding guide, who was very well known to, and clearly had a great rapport with, so many of the people living in the community. He stopped to chat to lots of them and this enabled us to meet the locals in a very respectful manner; it seemed more like a casual walk than a tour and it was an unforgettable experience. There was a real sense of community and we interacted with lots of smiling, welcoming adults and so many happy children who clearly love Santan and came rushing up to us to shake our hands and ask us questions. This experience has made such a lasting impression on me and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone. Thank you Santan.

Opening your eyes to life in a slum. - Nice, respectful walk through the community. The guide is well known under the locals and presents the tour like a visit of his friends. People are very curious and open so you feel quite safe. You also learn about the integration of the community into the city life and how it works economically. However, expect very bad hygienic conditions and poor air quality for european standards. If you dont mind this, I fully recommend this tour.

A unique perspective of Delhi - Very humbling experience. One of my most memorable in India. If you're up for it I highly recommend it, but it's not for the faint of hear. Bring as little with you as possible, and no pictures allowed. It's a big shock at first and I had a bit of trepidation, but I felt safe inside. It's like a different city within Delhi.

A revealing journey through the unrevealed heart of a Delhi slum. - It was a really interesting tour. our guide was knowledgeable and clearly knew the area as many children and residents acknowledged him and stopped to talk with him as we wondered through. We drank chai in one small shop, talked with a couple of the local men there. Then into a Tissue Bread making shop. What an intense small room but really interesting. Stopped to talk in the market path and a local home where the ladies create henna tattoos. Then back to our starting point. If you want something other than the regular tourist tour then consider this one.
