  • Is it safe?
  • Yes. You’ll be provided with safety instruction from our experienced guides who’ve spent hundreds of hours getting to know our resident school of sharks. Our guides will be in the water with you the entire time and will closely monitor the sharks behaviour to ensure your safety.
  • What type of sharks will I see?
  • There are two main species of sharks encountered, White Tip Reef Sharks and Black Tip Reef Sharks, both are common in the tropical warm waters of the South Pacific. Each species can grow to a length of just over 1.5 metres although under the water they appear 25% larger, a snorkeling face mask optical illusion. White Tips are the dominant species and are by nature an inquisitive shark not frightened to check you out. Their Black Tip relatives are by contrast timid and will shy away if they feel threatened.
  • How many sharks will I see?
  • Numbers vary but it is common to see up to six sharks.
  • How deep is the water?
  • Both Black Tip and White Tip Reef Sharks prefer shallower waters making snorkeling easy with good visibility. It’s even possible to see the sharks from our boat before entering the water. Water depth varies between 4 - 6 metres depending on the tide.
  • What if I’m not a good swimmer, haven’t snorkeled before or don’t want to snorkel but my travelling companion does?
  • Buoyancy aids are available for less confident swimmers and because these sharks prefer shallow waters there’s no necessity to dive under the water to secure a thrilling view. Non-snorkelers can join the day but sit out the snorkeling experience.
  • Our Shark Guarantee
  • As Sharks are wild animals we cannot guarantee sightings however we have a 95% +success rate of sighting sharks. In the event that you don’t see any sharks we are happy for you to return for a complimentary “Ultimate Encounter - Snorkel with Sharks” within 3 days of your original cruise.
  • If poor weather and sea conditions result in the cancellation of the ‘Snorkeling with Sharks experience,’ a substitute snorkeling safari will be provided.
  • Please bring swimsuit, towel, protective clothing from the sun including a hat and sunblock, light jacket or sweater during the cooler months, money or credit card for optional purchases, your camera and sense of fun!

Sharktacular! - Our family loved this day. Swimming with the sharks was a very special experience. The resort experience at Kuata was authentic and friendly with a delicious lunch. There was plenty of time after the shark encounter to make use of the resort facilities. A special thanks to Sala for taking the time to show us around. A very special day everyone will remember for a long time to come!

Amazing - Great day starting with a 2 hour boat ride before spending the day on Kuata Island which was the highlight of our Fiji trip. The snorkelling was great with sharks and a spectacular reef with incredible tropical fish. Lunch was supplied which was tasty and then spent the rest of the day enjoying the beach and exploring before taking the 2 hour boat ride back to Denarau.

A must do for your trip to fiji - Had such a great time with a great crew. Such great snorkeling and memories where made. Only issue I had was I was struggling for breath at one stage and when regaining my breath accidentally stood on the coral which I realise I should not do but instead of pulling me aside from the group and having a word she humiliated me in front of the group which I think was unfair and highly unprofessional.

Awesome tour, beautiful island, and great lunch. - 15 of us went to Fiji and we took a lot of different tours over 7 days we were there. Snorkeling with the sharks was the best tour for sure. Matter of fact I did it on Thursday and again on Saturday. I liked it that much. It rained on Saturday, but the water was still great. Just the ocean was a bit ruff on the small boat to the location where the sharks were at. The photo I added, is my photo I took. Get a good underwater case for your smart phone or a GoPro.

Shark snorkeling is a must do in Fiji! - We had the most amazing time! Great boat ride over to the island. Once you are on shore you go over some paperwork and then head on out to one of the most amazing reefs. We saw so many sharks and fish and they swam right there with us. The guides were incredible and made sure everyone was safe. When you get back to the resort you have a delicious lunch and can enjoy the resorts pool, island or do snorkeling offshore and look at the beautiful reef there. Great day, the views of everything were unreal. We didn’t want to leave and hope to come back and visit again someday. Thank you for a truly amazing experience.

Transport a mess, snorkeling was fun - My son and I had a good time on the snorkeling with sharks (Ultimate Encounter). I felt like the transportation to Kuata Island was a bit of a mess. You are on a big ferry with a lot of people going to different destinations. The person announcing the upcoming stops had a strong accent and was hard to understand. It would have been nice it the upcoming stops were announced on the televisions that are on the boat as well. The snorkeling was fun, and the tour guides were nice and helpful.
