Embark on a day trip from Islamabad to Rohtas Fort with a certified guide. The Fort was erected by Sher Shah Suri of Afghanistan as a strategy to halt the progress of Mughal emperor Humayun and to quell the local Gakhar tribes of the then Potohar region, who were Mughal allies in sub-continent India. UNESCO recognized Rohtas Fort as a World Heritage Site in 1997, noting it as a ‘remarkable representation of the Muslim military architecture of Central and South Asia. The fort boasts 12 gates, each one constructed in ashlar stone.

A beautiful fort rich with history - Rohtas fort is an incredible sight. The structure is beautiful and offers great views of the surrounding landscape. My guide was knowledgeable and shared the history of the fort and how its usage changed while various peoples ruled the land it stands on. A great experience
