Highlights
  • Slea Head Drive - After meeting in Dingle, we embark on a scenic tour along the Slea Head Drive, passing through the picturesque rural countryside. We will see the deep water natural harbor at Ventry and enjoy stunning ocean views as we approach our first stop at Slea Head.
  • Cross at Slea Head - This stop offers breathtaking vistas and photo opportunities. You can also take a short walk along the winding Oceanside road to enjoy more views and capture additional photos.
  • Coumeenoole Beach - Coumeenoole Strand is a beautiful spot for photography or simply relaxing by the water’s edge. The beach offers fantastic views of the rugged coastline, especially at low tide, and is a favorite location for many on the tour.
  • Dun Chaoin Pier - The iconic winding path down to Dunquin Pier is historically significant as the departure point for settlers heading to the Great Blasket Island. Today, it serves as a launch point for boats visiting the island. The paths at the top of the cliff offer superb vistas, and you can walk down the steep path for photos from lower vantage points.
  • Dunquin - Traveling along single-track lanes, we reach a stunning rocky beach with access to a coastal path that provides magnificent views of the rugged shoreline and the Blasket Islands in the background.
  • Clogher Strand - We stop at Clogher Head to take in panoramic views of the western edge of the Dingle Peninsula, including a filming location for Star Wars in 2016. A short distance away is the storm beach at Clogher, which we can access depending on the tide. From the viewing platform above the beach, you can capture wonderful ocean landscapes. This area also features several secluded rocky beaches and rugged coves accessible with a short drive.
  • Gallarus Oratory - Leaving the ocean and coastline behind, we take a scenic 15-minute drive to the 8th-century Gallarus Oratory, where we can observe and photograph this remarkable example of an ancient stone-roofed building.
  • Kilmalkedar Church - This 12th-century Romanesque church ruin is built on an earlier monastic site and features a unique standing stone with a “needle hole” and ogham script. Nearby, there is a large stone cross and St. Brendan’s House, offering excellent views of the church in its rural setting.
  • Dingle - After visiting Kilmalkedar Church, we take a 15-minute scenic drive back to Dingle, concluding the tour.

5 Star Tour of Dingle - George was a very friendly and down to earth tour guide whose family is from the Dingle area. He brought us to all the spots we wanted to see, and was very accommodating. We truly lucked out with the beautiful weather in April as well. It was a very pleasant tour and you just cannot beat the beautiful scenery of Dingle. Highly recommend! Thanks George!

Great experience - We had our tour today with George. We enjoyed it so much. He was very accommodating in that he let us switch to afternoon because it wasn’t a clear morning. He took his time to see the sights and gave us a lot of information regarding what we were seeing. He was very friendly and amicable. Highly recommended! Thank you.

A fantastic evening capturing the beauty of the Dingle Peninsula - With only two days in the Dingle area, I needed a knowledgeable guide to premier photo locations and an effective teacher to help me expand my abilities as a photographer. Thankfully I found George Jackson and Dingle Darkroom Workshops. George is an exceptional photographer and his ability to share his "eye" and his technical skills made our evening together an experience I'll always treasure. Whether you are pulling a smart phone from your pocket or toting around professional level kit, you won't be disappointed in the results.

Loved the tour and loved the results even more! - My husband (using a point and shoot camera) and I (using a Canon Rebel) spent 2 partial days with George on a photography tour. Despite the weather being uncooperative part of the time, I am very pleased with many of the photos that I shot with George. He shared various photography tips with us and took us places that we would not have been able to find by ourselves. I implemented two of his tips as soon as we met and my photos were greatly improved. While traveling he also answered our questions about Ireland and gave us insight into the Irish way of life. On the first day George came to our lodging and picked us up and brought us back. The second day we were in Dingle near the time to meet so we met him there and he dropped us off back at our car. After the tour was completed he followed up with an email listing the locations where we stopped for photos, as well as, links for many of the photography tips that he told us about. I would love to go back to the Dingle Peninsula and would look George up to work with him again.
