It takes around 3,000 silkworms consuming 104 kilograms of mulberry leaves to produce two pounds (one kilogram) of silk; the process lasts over three days. - Bến Đình - Leave the hustle and bustle of Ho Chi Minh City to explore one of the relics from one of the most significant local historical events in recent memory. The journey takes 2 hours west towards the Cambodian border. On the way to the Cu Chi tunnels, one can see local life in the area, both past and present. Learn about their lives, culture, and customs and get an insight into the recent past through local eyes. The location of the tunnels was of significant strategic importance: they are at the end of the infamous Ho Chi Minh Trail, and within striking distance of the southern Vietnam capital. Initial construction started in 1948 when the Viet Minh required somewhere to hide from French air attacks, and by 1965, the tunnel complex was estimated to consist of 200 km of tunnels. It included hospitals, schools, meeting rooms, kitchens, and sleeping quarters. Life was difficult for the inhabitants, and to protect against outside intruders, booby traps were laid throughout the complex.
- SƠN MÀI QUANG MINH - Handicap handicrafts factory: The high quality of resin from Vietnamese lacquer trees, notably those of the north, was a crucial factor in the rapid development of this art form. Decorated lacquer statues, panels, boxes, and trays may still be seen at many temples and pagodas. Over centuries, the use of lacquerware was extended to larger items such as wooden chairs and tables, decorated with engraved, painted, inlaid mother-of-pearl designs. By the 18th century, important centers for lacquerware production emerged in the north and in the south. As part of their strategy to open up Vietnamese handicrafts to new foreign markets, the French introduced formal training programs in lacquerware at the School of Indigenous Arts near Saigon from 1901 and in Hanoi from 1930. Since that time, lacquerware has continued to develop into one of the mainstays of the Vietnamese handicraft industry, both at home and abroad. Today’s most popular items include vases, jewel cases, desk sets, trays, and vertical blinds.

Private Tour to Cu Chi Tunnels and Mekong Delta - This private tour to the Cu Chi Tunnels and Mekong Delta was amazing. Our guide was knowledgeable and made the history of the tunnels come alive. The Mekong Delta part was beautiful, with a peaceful boat ride and visits to local villages. Highly recommended for a rich and immersive experience in Vietnam. The tour-guide gave us extra time and destinations on the tour! Highly satisfied!

Cu C hi Tunnels with Luc - Luv was awesome! Very knowledgeable and accommodating. He showed up on time, taught me so much on our ride to Cu Chi Tunnels. Once there is was able to give a a great understanding of how the tunnels were made and how they were used. I’d recommend Luc on any of the Ho. Hi Minh tours

Excellent Tour and Guide - We were picked up from our hotel and were offered bottles of water. The car was air-conditioned and comfortable. The driver was fairly safe to Vietnamese standards. The drive to Cu Chi is about an hour.
Our guide Luc, had excellent communication skills, and was very social and informative. It was very easy to communicate, and he answered all questions about the history of Vietnam not just about the Cu Chi tunnels, but about all of Vietnam history. Luc was able to offer local knowledge on different things we were interested in and was very helpful. The tour is self was very interesting and has a lot of areas where you can walk through the small tunnels and see what it was like. There is a firing range, when you can select a gun to fire. The bullets are quite expensive you have to have a minimum of 10 bullets. each bullet is around 60,000.VND
One of the staff will take you down to the pit area where you need to wear ear protection. The guns are mounted however, you are able to move them around and aim for the target. The staff will load the bullets for you. It is extremely loud in this area and in the gift shop.
There is a gift shop located at the firing range, and also at the beginning of the tour.
I would recommend doing this tour as it is private and you can have a good one on one experience.
