Souq Waqif - Souq Waqif (Arabic: Sūq Wāqif, “the standing market”) is a marketplace (souq) in Doha, in the state of Qatar. The souq sells traditional garments, spices, handicrafts, and souvenirs. It is also home to restaurants and Shisha lounges. The original building dates back at least from the 20th Century in a traditional Qatari architectural style. It was renovated in 2006.
The souq was founded at least a century ago in proximity of the dry river bed known as Wadi Musheireb. It was a gathering place where Bedouins and locals would trade a variety of goods, primarily livestock goods.
The Souq Waqif is considered as a tourist attraction within Doha.

Doha Night tour - He picked us up in his clean car, took us around the city, stopping at all the landmarks! The driver was very informative. It was perfect for our long layover in Doha

DO NOT MISS THIS TOUR - Do not miss this! I was in awe the entire time! Mohammed was an amazing guide and helped me understand the important history behind the different stops. This was the highlight of my trip!

Great tour for a night layover in Doha - My night tour was absolutely amazing! From seeing the old side of Doha to the more modern one. Absolutely would recommend it to anyone having a night layover in Doha. Special thanks to my guide: Muhammad Yasin for the experience and also for sharing his rice pudding with me.

Doha at night - with Mohammed - Had a pretty great tour by Mohammed who picked me up outside of baggage claim and dropped me off four hours later at departures. I was in Doha on a 12-hour layover and the night tour was a perfect first time guided tour around such a fascinating international city.
First important stop was the Souk (market) that is over 100 years old. Mohammed dropped me off and I was able to have an authentic experience. After the market, we met up again and he continued the private tour and quite literally drive across the entire Doha with key stops at picture and historic locations, and also even had a nice walk around Katari cultural town (which is a massive open air mall with all the high end stores including Galeries Lafayette).
Highly recommend if you have a long layover and/or if you’re visiting for the first time, to get a nice idea of places to return.

Great tour - The night tour was great, we got to see quite a lot of things in this short period of time. Our guide Muhammad Yasin was very friendly and introduced the city to us perfectly. He also took us to try the local tea and put on some great music which we enjoyed the most. Even though everything was closed and the tour was very peaceful we liked it a lot and would recommend it.

MUST DO to see more than just Hamad International Airport during transit - Muhammad Yasin was very friendly and knowledgeable about the story of Doha/Qatar. He picked us up on time from the airport and showed us around the city, with stories attached to the conversations. He took his time to let us take our pictures and the chai place in the old market is a MUST for all Chai lovers. We enjoyed it a lot!! But chilly in the night, bring a jacket
