Cool experience for the price! - Super cool experience for a decent price. Definitely a slow and all day affair but worth it. The Tour guide was awesome. All the boat staff were so fun! And the provided lunch was fabulous.

It's a vibe - Only thing I didn't like was the coming back transportation. We didn't get back till after 6 pm. But other than that we had a blast

Beautiful island, tiring trip - Going to spend a day on Saona Island is a very common trip for those in Punta Cana. The color of the sea around the island is truly unbelievable; Only in the Caribbean can it be so beautiful. But the tour has 3 negative points that weigh heavily. The first is the distance: on the common tour (which is not done by speedboat) it takes 3 hours to go and 3 hours to return (1 hour by road, from the resort to the city with the port, + 2 by boat ). With these 6 hours round trip, there are only 2 hours left to enjoy the island. It's very little, even though the island is small. The second negative point is lunch on the island: of the 2 hours you will spend there, a good amount of time is dedicated to the lunch that the tours offer (included in the price). It's not worth it: you'll waste a lot of time and the food is very poor. The third negative point, at least for me, is that on the boat, both on the way out and on the way back, they turn on music at a volume that blows your eardrums (no joke, I've been to a lot of rock shows in my life and nothing happens. compares to this). Solutions: afford a ride on a speedboat both on the way there and on the way back; It's more expensive, but you enjoy more time on the island, it's quieter and more private (the main thing is that it's quick to get there and back, to enjoy the island more). It's really worth it. As for lunch, take advantage of the resort's breakfast and grab some bread and prepare a hearty snack, with cheese, ham, etc., and take it in your backpack. Don't waste your time with the bad lunch they offer (even if it's included in the price). Then, at dinner, when you return to the hotel, you eat a real meal. As for the unbearably loud music, there's nothing you can do: take an aspirin. And for those with a weaker stomach, don't forget the Dramamine, because the boat rocks a lot. In the end, despite the negative points, it is worth the visit, given the incredible beauty of the island and the sea. But be aware that any service provided in Punta Cana is of poor quality, and people are not polite or friendly. This is the rule in the country and applies to any place or trip.

The island and... - The island and catterameran and staff where awesome. The only bad part was 9 people in a mini van and it took 3 hrs to get back to hotel too many stops.

Not worth it - My boyfriend and I stayed on Uvero Alto and this excursion was about 8 hours of traveling total. Not only that, but there is a ton of transfers on the route which put altogether is very tiring and may be a waste of your day. Even while you’re on Saona Island, there is not much to see or do and you are basically confined to the excursion company’s designated area on the beach. The Viator listing advises you have 3 hours on the island but in reality, we got there at 12pm and left at 2pm (which is fine for us but can be deceptive) so only there for a total of 2 hours. While you’re on the island, there are many sellers that basically harass you every 5-10 minutes so it is hard to even just relax in peace. Overall, definitely wasn’t for me and I would not recommend considering the time and what the island has to offer unless you’re literally just trying to lounge around (which can be done at your resort, it is not that much of a difference).

Paradise spoiled by low infrastructure - The structure of the island is terrible. The restaurant is located on the sand, and the staff takes food wrapped in aluminum foil without any concern for hygiene. The bathrooms are horrible and smelly and there is no shower to remove the salt. The worst is a pipe full of moss next to the fetid bathrooms. In the structure of the restaurant, birds land and shit on the beams and tables. The beach chairs are old and dirty. There are no cold drinks. We took the SeaPro tour, which was horrible in terms of sales × delivery. The pool they took us to had no fish or corals, it was as if we were on the resort's beach. On the way back, stupidly loud music. I would never come back here again.
