Best for a cruise ship stop - Can’t beat this tour. John was an excellent tour guide, great personality, full of historical stories, flexible scheduling to accommodate our cruise ship stop, great picturesque stops from a comfortable car. Well worth the price.

An island experience - For anyone visiting the IOM this tour is a must. John’s in-depth knowledge of the island, its culture and the island's links to historic events in the UK (and beyond) is immense. John’s knowledge of archaeology and the history of the island is invaluable in understanding the island's development over the centuries. I have Visited the IOM annually for past three years and have always stayed in Douglas. I have learnt so much from this tour that it has it given me an appetite to venture further on my next visit and learn more. John is very friendly and helpful; nothing is too much trouble for him. After spending eight interesting hours with John I feel that I have made a new friend! I would highly recommend this tour, very good value for money.

Great Day Tour - John has an in-depth knowledge of local history, anthropology, and social customs. He even explores many stories that go unnoticed by local residents. This trip is not only about exploring the island with a local, but also about understanding this small community and its local nature. John對本地歷史、人類學、社會風俗有著深入的理解。 甚至探索了許多本地居民未曾注意到的故事。 這場旅行,不僅是和一位本地人探索小島,更是理解這個小小的社會和它的本土性。

John's OUTSTANDING Tour - John was simply amazing. What a stroke of luck to spend an incredible day with this man. I don't think we'll ever realize how important John is to the IOM. He gave a more than an expert tour of this beautiful place. He is well known about the Isle which says alot about him. We will one day definitely revisit.

Highly recommended! - John guided me around Isle of Man a whole day. I cannot recommend John enough! I had a LOT of questions and he answered all of them. We went off pist from the tourist trail, exploring beautiful and interesting Man. John shares knowledge about both contemporary issues and history right back to the neolitic age - and is a great storyteller!

Fabulous Introduction to the Isle of Man - My husband and I hired John to show us the Isle of Man--historical sites, local flora and fauna, plus local eateries. We had a fabulous time! John is extremely knowledgeable about the island and its history and is able to share his knowledge while making it very interesting. We did half day tours over the course of several weeks and this worked well for us, but John is very flexible so you can work with him to create the best plan for your needs. If you want to se the IOM in a relaxed and enjoyable way, you can't do better than hiring John. You won't be sorry!

Spectacular IOM with the remarkable John - Thank you to the wonderful, talented John Shakespeare for providing an amazing day sharing his knowledge and love for IOM. John immediately immerses you into Manx history, sharing his knowledge of IOM history from the old Manx farming life to the times of the Viking ways. Interwoven, are stops for little towns and villages, an introduction to local people, a chat here and there. The magnificent Laxey wheel (an attraction that surprised me) and little gems hidden out of the way, a spectacular landscape with John the story teller proving detail insight of not the only beauty of each scenic spot but also bringing to life the history of each area visited. Through John we were able to love and appreciate a surprising IOM, something we wouldn’t have been able to do if we did a self drive of the island ourselves. I highly recommend John, his tours and any time spent with him to gain a better appreciation of the spectacular Isle of Man. Hopefully, we will be back at some stage and maybe a pint at the Creek Inn with one who shares his love for the island.

The Only Way to See Isle of Man - So many wonderful memories created. John knows the island well and loves to share his knowledge with others. John is just as interesting as the island itself and glad to have made a new friend. The island is magnificent, so much history, people are lovely. A must see destination.

Wonderful Tour of Isle Of Man - This tour was the highlight of our trip to Ireland, Isle of Man and Scotland. John is so warm and welcoming. We were limited on time, but John managed to impart so much history, culture and insight about this lovely island. We learned about famous people that came from the island (no spoilers here), as well as governance, Viking history and current events. John is the best ambassador for the Isle of Man! After he dropped us at the airport, he learned that our flight to Scotland had been cancelled. He sent several emails to us, making sure we were not stranded at the airport. What a privilege to have enjoyed our delightful time with him!

Fun and Fascinating tour - Our family of six had a great day with John Shakespeare (yes he is related to the bard himself). John is very knowledgeable about everything on the Isle of Man with a strong connection to history. He is involved in the Manx museum and other historical organizations and loves what he does. But even more fun is John himself! He is a super friendly person with many stories and connections to the Isle of Man. We heard the stories and saw the places. He was so kind and went out of his way to do some family research of my mother's ancestors. Then he took us to the town they are from, the church they attended, the gravesites and even met some people with the same last name. Relatives!! The Isle of Man is truly a special place. It's beautiful, charming, and great people, John being one of the best!!
