Highlights

Lisbon to Porto, with stops in Óbidos, Nazaré and Aveiro

Obidos - Our journey begins in the medieval town of Óbidos, a historic walled city known for its castle and unique sour cherry liqueur, Ginjinha. Your guide will lead you through the town’s highlights, and you’ll have the chance to sample the famous drink. There will be free time for shopping or exploring the city walls.

Nazare - Known as the Capital of the Big Waves, Nazaré is famous for the world’s largest surfed waves, typically seen from November to March. This city is rich in tales, legends, and offers authentic local experiences and excellent seafood. We’ll stop here for a traditional lunch and to take in the stunning views of the city and ocean.

Aveiro - Renowned for its art nouveau architecture, Aveiro is often called the “Portuguese Venice” due to its canals. You can choose to take a boat ride through the canals and sample Aveiro’s traditional sweets, such as Ovos Moles (Sweet Eggs) and Tripa (a fluffy crepe).

Douro Valley Wine and Snacks Experience + Douro River Cruise

Pinhao - After a delightful wine tasting, we’ll head to the Pinhão pier for a one-hour Douro River Cruise, either before or after lunch. The cruise is included in the tour price.

Casal de Loivos Viewpoint - Before returning to Porto, we’ll visit several viewpoints for some final photos of the day.

Porto Tour and Gaia Wine Cellar Tour or Wine Tasting

Porto - Your guide will show you the main highlights of Porto, including:

  • S. Bento Train Station
  • Aliados Avenue
  • Clérigos Church and Tower
  • Carmo Church
  • Carmelitas Church
  • Lello Bookshop (Harry Potter)
  • Ribeira neighborhood
  • Porto Sé Cathedral

This tour is primarily a walking tour, but we can drive if you prefer. Porto’s compact center makes it easy to explore on foot.

After lunch, we’ll cross the bridge to Gaia, home to numerous wine cellars, where you’ll have the opportunity to taste Port and other wines from the Douro Region.

After these activities, we’ll drive back to Lisbon for the next two nights.

Sintra, Cascais and the Coast Full Day Tour

Park and National Palace of Pena - You can visit one of Europe’s most beautiful palaces. Your guide will show you around the property. During peak seasons, we recommend visiting only the gardens and terraces to avoid long lines for the palace interior. We can purchase tickets to skip the outside lines, but there’s no way to bypass the queue for the palace itself.

Castelo dos Mouros - You’ll see the Moorish Castle from various viewpoints in Sintra. If you wish to visit, we’ll take you there.

Sintra National Palace - We’ll stop near the city center, where the National Palace is located, and walk around to show you local delicacies like Queijada and Travesseiro, traditional pastries of the town. You’ll explore the picturesque center and its narrow cobblestone streets.

Quinta da Regaleira - Our favorite monument in Sintra, this mystical estate was the dream of a wealthy Brazilian man. It’s filled with mystery and stories that your guide will share. The famous initiation well is located within this lush property.

Seteais - We’ll drive by the 18th-century Palace of Seteais, now a 5-star hotel.

Parque e Palacio de Monserrate - Another drive-by on the way to the coast, this palace was the summer home of Sir Francis Cook. We’ll stop for exterior photos.

Cabo da Roca - The westernmost point of mainland Europe, perfect for stunning photos.

Boca do Inferno - Another excellent photo stop.

Lisbon Full Day Tour

Lisbon Cathedral - The main cathedral of Lisbon.

Miradouro das Portas do Sol - A small square with a viewpoint overlooking the river. We’ll stop if parking is available, but the next viewpoint offers even better views.

Igreja de Sao Vicente de Fora - The church dedicated to Lisbon’s patron saint, St. Vincent. We can stop for interior photos if you wish.

Panteao Nacional - The National Pantheon, also known as the Church of Santa Engrácia.

Alfama - Lisbon’s oldest neighborhood, where you can experience local life, smell grilled sardines, and photograph the narrow streets and small houses.

Mosteiro dos Jeronimos - The Jerónimos Monastery, a Manueline architectural icon housing Vasco da Gama’s tomb. Admission to the church is free but may require waiting in line. The cloisters can be visited for a fee.
