- Entry to the German Opera on the Rhine
Time-honored cultural sites meet modern architecture – a tour through the new center of Düsseldorf.
The new center of Düsseldorf is located between Gustaf-Gründgens-Platz, Düsseldorf Opera House, Hofgarten and Corneliusplatz. The Hochstrasse, affectionately known by Düsseldorf residents as the centipede, once characterized Schadowplatz, but now it is a car-free zone that is ideal for strolling. A green oasis with architectural highlights has been created - such as the Kö-Bogen II with its 30,000 hornbeams. The new center sets the course for a climate-friendly Düsseldorf.
The tour begins at the opera house, where we go behind the scenes of the Düsseldorf venue of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. Built in 1873 as a city theater, the opera house was redesigned several times before it received its current form. After visiting the opera house, the tour leads through the Hofgarten along Kö-Bogen I into the Ingenhoven Valley and from there over Schadow-Platz to Königsallee.
