Highlights
  • Dubrovnik Walks - This is our meeting point, we all gather here, the guide briefly presents him/herself and off we go! 1,5 h DISCOVER THE OLD TOWN tour begins!

Dubrovnik never fails to awe the visitor; its streets paved with white limestone, its walls crowning the city, and its medieval sandstone-colored houses oozing with history.

This 1.5-hour guided walking tour takes you deep into the city’s 1,400-year history, recalling ancient tales when Dubrovnik was one of the world’s most prosperous port cites. It tells tales of war and lets the tour-goer in on the culture of the city.

After meeting in Pile area, in front of Sky bar, begin the journey through history and through Old Town. Pass the Franciscan Monastery and admire Orlando’s Column, a monument on the Stradun inspired by the city’s long-standing freedom and sovereignty. See, too, Onofrio’s Fountain, built in 1438 at the end of a 8-mile (12-km) aqueduct that gave the city its water supply.

The walk also passes by the Rector’s Palace, Sponza Palace and the Cathedral of the Assumption, a baroque church built after the devastating earthquake of 1667.

Excellent historic sampling tour!! - Excellent guides with deep unscripted knowledge of Old Town and City Walls history. Fortunately, our group size was small (early morning group) and the weather was great (go early in the morning)! Great value and was exactly what I was looking for - a quick and deep waling tour of this gorgeous city.

Branko the Great! - Branko was an AMAZING tour guide. Not only was he informative, he was also delightfully and sincerely entertaining. A true Croatian, who loved showing off the city! The tour was also awesome. We learned a lot about Dubrovnik :)

Wall tour was better than the city tour - Really enjoyed Lana’s discussion of the ancient city walls. She was clever, very helpful, made her points without belaboring them. Kept moving but gave us periodic nice breaks in the shade. The city tour by Davon was not as good. Too much standing and covering the history from 600 to today. Not enough calling and pointing out interesting parts of the city.

Worth the time to understand history - Our walls tour guide was well versed in the history with interesting facts to learn about Dubrovnik. It was very hot and he was very good about finding shade and not keeping us in one place too long. The other guide for old town was equally informative though with the crowds and heat, he could have shorten some of his stairs. Since it was our first time here, its worth taking the tour with guides than simply walking on your own

Highly recommend Davor and Lana! - Davor was a mine of interesting information and stories as he took us around the old Town. Then Lana took us up onto the wall. Such a personable young woman with excellent English (she also speaks Spanish, French and German!!) She was a delightful and wonderful tour guide on the wall. There are a LOT of steps/stairs on the wall tour. She will tell you how many at the end! But the pace was easy. They both spoke to us through headsets which made it very easy to hear. I highly recommend both of these tours.

Fantastic site with great views, but costly. - This was an independent visit to the walls. They are a fantastic experience, affording great views of the town and ocean. There are lots of steps which can make it a strenuous walk, so best to pick a cooler time of day. There are several cafes along route where water, other drinks and food can be purchased. The only downside was the cost - an eye-watering 35 euros pp to walk the walls. Coincidentally, the same cost as a one day Dubrovnik pass. This means of course that most people will buy the pass rather than just pay for the walls. This is better value if you plan to visit some of the other museums, but not so if you had just planned to walk the walls. So in brief a fantastic place, but expensive.
