Additional Information

Having served with distinction in the Croatian war, I invite you to delve into the past and recent history of the Homeland War in Croatia, as I experienced it firsthand.

We will traverse from the eastern to the western entrances of the Old City, where I will guide you through its notable historical sites with a special focus on the war era. Witness remnants of motor strikes, structures that were burnt down and later rebuilt, damaged sculptures, fountains, rooftops, and more.

Hear narratives and details about Dubrovnik’s dramatic history from 1991, understanding how the inhabitants persevered amidst continual bombardment.

We will step into the Memorial Room of Dubrovnik’s Defenders and honour the young lives sacrificed for Dubrovnik’s freedom. Take a look at the multitude of photos, video clips, war artefacts and so much more.

Permit me to take you on a trip back to a challenging phase of Dubrovnik’s history, a period that was arguably the most distressing in its long and storied past!

Highly recommend taking this tour if you are in Dubrovnik. - My wife and I have gone on Battlefield tours around the world and this by far was one of the best and most unique. We have never taken a Battlefield tour with a veteran who had fought at the site. Vlaho was super professional and explained to us the very complex nature of the war at that time and how it impacted the soldiers and the civilians of Dubrovnik. I would highly recommend this tour to truly appreciate what Croatia did to gain their independence and the sacrifices their soldiers and citizens made.

Review of private Homeland War tour - Vlaho was an extremely knowledgeable and friendly guide. He provided a thorough insight into all of the history behind the conflict. We had refreshments at the Veterans cafe which was very welcome as it was very warm and also this helps the cafe. The tour was also very well organised and structured.

Excellent tour of a bitter time in history - This was an excellent tour, with the history of Dubrovnik interweaved with poignant and personal stories of the seven month siege of the city during the Croatian War of Independence in 1991-1992. The tour starts at the east gate and meanders through the whole of the city, ending at the west gate. It was well worth our time and we highly recommend this tour.
