I highly recommend this Blue Penguins experience! - I found this tour to be less than I expected, but also more than I expected. You are picked up and taken with a van from your hotel or city centre to the Otago Peninsula. We were told upon pickup that the regular driver was not available, and that the driver who subbed in had only done this evening tour once before. So I am not sure if this is how it usually goes or if it was the driver. The atmosphere felt lacking and anytime we saw a bird, he would point it out, but not stop, or stop long enough for those of us who wanted a photo, to take one. I found that annoying. The lack of seabirds/albatross was disappointing, but may have been the time of year, so not the fault of the tour, but I had expected more, based on the tour description. However, once we got to the centre, it was great. The 1/2 hour session about the history of NZ, and information about the penguins was very interesting! Then we were out on the deck waiting for the penguins, and it was an amazing experience. We were all able to see them, and this was the only tour that I found that you were allowed to take photos, which I really appreciated, for the memories. I also really appreciated that although the deck could hold more people, they capped the number of people, so that everyone was able to see. It was clear that they really care about the penguins, thier health and safety, and I appreciated that as well. We loved the whole second half of the tour, and it was nice to be picked up and driven back to our hotel. Well worth the time and money to do this one.

Penguin Tour - It was a pretty amazing tour. It guide told us so much about the city, the wildlife and the geography. We could see lots of different types of birds and made a few stops on our way. At the end they thought us about the penguins and we got to see lots of them. Definitely would recommen it!

satisfaction! - Not only did we get to see the blue penguins, we were also taught about the history, geology, and nature of the Otago Peninsula. We enjoyed the explanations about the birds we saw while traveling by car! We were able to get a closer look at the penguins than we expected. The way they came up from the sea was so cute.

Blue Penguins! - The experience was amazing. The weather didn’t cooperate, but the penguins did. The staff was extremely knowledgeable. They were friendly and professional, and the work they’re doing to protect the penguins and the Otago Peninsula is amazing. I would highly recommend that everyone go if you’re in the area.

Disappointment - I must admit, I am feeling disappointed. I booked a trip for my parents, who do not know much English. Unfortunately, they described the tour guide as unfriendly. While language barriers can exist, they shouldn't prevent the formation of human connections, which often go beyond language itself. I appreciate that the tour guide helped by dropping my parents off at our house, especially since it was late at night. However, it saddens me to hear that they did not experience a friendly attitude from the guide.
