Highlights
  • Byzantine Forum (Macellum) - This is the first stop of our tour. This is one of the few archeological sites with great importance in the city of Durres. The guide will briefly explain its history and you will walk by and see the old remaining and the area where recent excavations have taken part.
  • Town Square - Sheshi Liria - Plac - This is the main city square which is newly build and surrounded by important public buildings such as the municipality, the palace of culture, the main mosque a business tower. The square is connected with the two main boulevards of the city, all under the palm trees. Don’t forget to take pictures while at the square’s balcony up to the stairs.
  • Durres Amphitheatre - You will visit the 3000 year roman Amphitheatre, accompanied by a guide who will explain everything about this historical monument.
  • Durres Castle - Walk along the old castle of the city with the guide who will explain more about this place.
  • Ortodox Church Of Saint Pavel And Saint Ast Durres - Pass by the main orthodox church in the city, where the main orthodox events are held.
  • Venetian Tower - Head towards the main boulevard and after visiting the Amphitheatre, walk along the old castle of the city and pass by the venetian tower (we do not enter the tower).
  • Promenade Park (Shetitorja “Vollga”) - Vollga is the local’s favourite place for a walk, and for good reasons. You can enjoy the sea views, greenery around the promenade and take some photos of the unknown soldier monument.

Book this tour and discover a city with more than 3000 years of history and second most important city in Albania. This is a guided walking tour through Durres’s main archeological sites, important buildings and main districts.

The tour starts in the ancient byzantine market and heads toward the main city square. The tour includes entrance at the famous Amphitheatre, an archeological site with great importance in country and beyond. Learn the history of the city with your guide as you walk by the castle’s wall, the venetian tower, the old streets with plenty of small local shops and the main mosque, catholic church and orthodox church.

After stopping at a souvenir shop, we head to the promenade to enjoy the fantastic views of the seaside and stroll around, like locals do.

The tour lasts 180 minutes, including the visit at the amphitheater and ends at an area with plenty of restaurants, coffee bars and ice cream shop where everyone can enjoy afterwards (after the tour ends).
