Additional Information

Your Bamburgh Castle, Northumberland, and Alnwick Adventure tour departs from Edinburgh City Centre in the morning, passing through East Lothian to Holy Island (Lindisfarne). This island, connected to the mainland by a causeway, features a quaint village and sensational views of the Priory, where the Lindisfarne Gospels were produced. In winter, explore the beautiful gardens instead. The island is renowned for its tranquility and Lindisfarne Mead brewed by monks. If the tide prevents a visit, we will stop at the picturesque seaside village of St Abbs.

Next, continue to Alnwick, home to the Alnwick Garden with its Grand Cascade and Poison Gardens, or explore the charming town streets. Spot Alnwick Castle, a filming location for Downton Abbey and Harry Potter.

We then visit the medieval Bamburgh Castle, dating back to the 5th century and spanning nine acres. Discover its rich history, myths, legends, and film appearances. Finally, return to Edinburgh, arriving after a comfort break.
