You don’t know Edinburgh until you join the tour. - You wouldn’t be able to get that feeling on your skin by reading a pamphlet. Thank you Nicola, for the informative and interesting tour!

Our guide was excellent, and we all learned a lot. - Seniors should be aware that the terrain is quite rough and, in places, there might not be enough light for “old” eyes.

Fascinating Glimpse into Edinburgh’s Underground - On a rainy Wednesday afternoon in Edinburgh, it was actually welcome to go underground for a while where it was nice and dry. Our tour guide Mark had an encyclopedic knowledge of the subject matter and provided a detailed and memorable overview of the colorful characters and events that took place in The South Bridge Vaults. The ground is uneven down there, so be careful while you’re walking. There honestly isn’t a great deal of visual interest within the vaults, so the success of the tour depends on the guide being able to paint a vivid verbal portrait of all the people and happenings that took place down there, and this Mark achieved tremendously well. Would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who wants a different view of Edinburgh, both literally and figuratively.

Engaging, funny and informative! - Linda was the perfect guide bringing the history of Edinburgh to life, particularly life in the vaults. I’m glad we don’t have nasty buckets anymore! Well worth the price and it got us out of the rain for an hour!

Book a tour here - Our fids, Stefanie, gave a fun talk about life in the 'vaults' of Southbridge. It is almost unbelievable that people lived in the vaults. Mercat tours is one of the few organizations that is allowed to give tours of the 'vaults'. I would say.....book with Mercat tours for a guided tour for a nice introduction to Edinburgh.
