Highlights
  • Fossen Bratte - Fossen Bratte is a prominent waterfall located between Bergen and Norheimsund. The name translates to ‘steep waterfall,’ which is fitting as the Eikedalselva River plunges 79 meters in a single drop.
  • Steinsdalsfossen - Steinsdalsfossen is one of Norway’s most beloved waterfalls. The Fosselvi River cascades 48 meters, and visitors can walk behind the water curtain. The river’s flow is steady, fed by a series of lakes including Myklavatnet. Steinsdalsfossen has been a popular destination for over a century, frequented by Germany’s Emperor Wilhelm II until World War II. Interestingly, the waterfall’s current path was formed in 1699 after a flood altered the river’s course.
  • Skjervsfossen Waterfall - Near Voss, Skjervsfossen is a stunning waterfall with two main drops, totaling 150 meters in height. The upper section, visible from the parking area, features an impressive 60-meter drop.
  • Panorama Views from Mount Hanguren - The new gondola operates year-round, transporting visitors from Voss train station to Mount Hanguren (820 masl) in under 9 minutes. It is the largest and most modern mountain gondola in Northern Europe. At the top, enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and a variety of activities such as hiking, biking, paragliding, and rappelling in summer, and skiing at Voss Resort in winter.

  • Hardanger Fjord - The Hardangerfjord is the world’s fourth longest fjord and Norway’s second longest, stretching 179 kilometers (111 mi) from the Atlantic Ocean into Norway’s mountainous interior. The fjord’s innermost point is the town of Odda. Its history predates the Viking era, with early hunters and later farmers cultivating the fertile region, now known as Norway’s ‘fruit orchard.’ The fjord became a major tourist destination in 1875 when Thomas Cook began weekly cruises from London, drawn by its stunning nature, glaciers, and waterfalls.
  • Voringfossen - Vøringsfossen is Norway’s 83rd highest waterfall, with a total drop of 182 meters (597 ft) and a major drop of 163 meters (534 ft). Located at the top of Måbødalen valley in Eidfjord municipality, it is one of Norway’s most famous waterfalls and a key tourist attraction en route from Hardangervidda to Hardangerfjord.
  • Voss Municipality - Voss is a municipality in Vestland county, Norway, centered around the village of Vossevangen. Surrounded by snow-capped mountains, forests, lakes, and fast-flowing rivers, Voss is a hub for skiing, water sports, skydiving, paragliding, and other adventure activities. The area hosts the Extreme Sports Week every June, the world’s premier extreme sports festival. Bømoen airstrip is home to Skydive Voss, one of Norway’s largest dropzones, and a gliding club. The rivers offer various levels of white water for kayaking, rafting, and river boarding, while lake Vangsvatnet is popular for kite surfing and para-bungee. The ski area north of town is accessible via the Hangursbanen cable car.
