Highlights
  • El Bruc - El Bruc, a small picturesque town located on the southern slope of the mountain, with a 10-minute stop to enjoy the panoramic views and the special morphology of its peaks. We will pass by the statue / monument dedicated to the “Timbaler” (hero of the resistance to Napoleon)
  • Santa Cecilia de Montserrat and Sean Scully Art Space - Convent / Monastery of the S. XI. Once we have crossed to the north slope we arrive at the small Romanesque style monastery where we will appreciate its magnificent architecture and there will be the possibility (walking 5 minutes) to appreciate the views of Sant Benet and all of the valley with the Pyrenees in the background.
  • Abadia de Montserrat - We arrive at the Abbey where they will have free time to visit the church with the image of the Black Virgin, patron saint of Catalonia.
  • Montserrat Museum - We will see the facade of this museum located at a height of 720 meters above sea level
  • Santa Cueva de Montserrat - Cave with chapel where the original image of the Virgin was found
  • Ermita de Sant Joan - Together with the Santa Cueva, it is the most accessible mountain hermitage in Montserrat. It is well communicated with the monastery thanks to the San Juan Funicular and the Camino de las Ermitas, which has wide and well-paved sections.

Great experience to Monserrat! - James was very knowledgeable and accommodating. He also booked us tickets to see Madonna for our visit. You can extend your hours for a fee which is very reasonable in value. Overall experience was worth it!

Great experience – amazing sights, fantastic tour guide - This trip was wonderful! The driver (James) was a very knowledgeable, professional, and personable guide. He organized all the logistics with us in advance, was very flexible and helpful with tailoring the activities and timing to our interests, and took us to a number of unique sites along the way to and from Monserrat.

He showed us things we found very interesting along the way, and was very good with precise directions on where to go when we got there. Beautiful views - We had a great half day tour. James picked us up on time and drove us to Monserrat. On arrival he explained how & where to get tickets for the funicular and suggested an easy but scenic walk we could enjoy once at the top. He had pre booked our tickets for the church visit. And when we had finished he picked us up at the point he dropped us off. He gave us some interesting information along the drive. We had a great time. It was a beautiful place. V scenic. The route down from the funicular was long but was a clear path (mostly gravel). We went over our time slot but it was worth the extra cost!

Santa Maria de Montserrat Abbey - The car was comfortable; the views were wonderful. We took way too many photos. One member of our party had mobility issues due to a recent knee replacement, and he was able to participate fully in our experience. The Basilica was beautiful and the experience of seeing the Black Madonna was very moving. Jaime Gassol, our driver, was very knowledgeable about the area and the history. We did not complete everything we wanted to do within our allotted time and paid Jaime for an additional two hours of his time --well worth every cent!

Great visit to Montserrat with James - James was really easy to communicate with before we arrived Barcelona and during our stay. He arrived on time at our hotel and we headed to Montserrat at our scheduled time. He arranged tickets for us to the Madonna while the choir was singing, it was beautiful. James was great!
