Highlights
  • Powerscourt House & Gardens - Ranked as the third best in the world by National Geographic, these 47-acre gardens are breathtaking in any season. Featuring lakes, statues, flowers, and unique trees, this garden offers something for everyone! I’ll guide you on a tour unless you prefer to explore on your own.
  • Wicklow Mountains National Park - We’ll drive through Wicklow Mountains National Park, near my childhood home. Expect to see heather-covered mountains, deep dark lakes nourished by mountain streams, and spectacular views. This area has served as the backdrop for numerous films, including PS I Love You, Vikings, Valhalla, and many more.
  • Glendalough Monastic Settlement - We’ll explore the ruins of this monastic city, visiting several of its churches. If you’re up for a walk, we’ll hike up the valley to see the two lakes and the breathtaking scenery. Glendalough means ‘the valley of two lakes’—it would be a pity to miss either of them!

Wonderful day in Wicklow - Adapted to Poor Weather Easily! - My parents (60s) and I (early 30s) enjoyed a wonderful day in Wicklow with Dairine. From the start I had excellent communication and planning with Dairine. The day of our tour we didn't have the best weather (cold & rainy), but Dairine kept a great attitude which spread to us as well. She adapted our day to fit the weather and our interests. We went to a farm museum (perfect for my family with a history in agriculture) and saw not only so many historical items, but our lovely host provided so much detailed information. This ended up being a highlight for my father and great way to stay out of the rain. Throughout our tour we had lovely chats with Dairine, and she shared so much interesting history (past & present) with us about Wicklow & Ireland. She has incredible time-management and got us to many locations without us feeling rushed or as if we were missing something. I HIGHLY recommend a tour with Dairine, it will be the highlight of your trip!

Explore Dublin’s Lush Countryside with a Local - It was so fun and informative to tour around Wicklow with Dairine. She was born and raised in the area so she knew all the best (and least crowded) places to hike and she shared lots of interesting stories and tidbits along the way. She was prompt about picking us up from our hotel and making sure we were back in time for our dinner reservation. And she has a lovely vehicle that made for a very comfortable and luxe driving experience. Our highlights from the day include: Seeing so many unique varieties of plants at Powerscourt Gardens, relaxing at the grotto near Glencree, a delicious lunch (and the best scone I’ve ever had) at Roundwood Stores, and hiking through the ruins of a monastic city at Glendalough. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who likes to spend time in nature & get local insights.

Excellent Day In Dalkey + Wicklow Mountains with Dairine! - Dairine is everything you’d want in a local tour guide. Punctual, informative, kind, and flexible. She arrived on time to pick us up at the train in Dublin, and took us on an excellent tour through out Dalkey and the Wicklow Mountains. She knew all the right spots and made sure we maximized the limited time we had. She also was very informative on all the history which was a great bonus. Highly recommend and thank you again Dairine! Hope to see you again!

Amazing day in County Wicklow - Dairine was an excellent and knowledgable guide for our day around Wicklow. She was communicative before we arrived and had a great day lined up for us so that we could just concentrate on enjoying ourselves. Her guided tour of Powerscourt Gardens really brought it to life and gave us more information than if we'd walked through alone. We also learned more about Glendalough from her than we would have without a guide, and she still gave us some free time to roam around before making sure we were back to port in plenty of time to embark our ship.

The perfect day trip from Dublin. - If a bus ride with 30+ people and a tight schedule doesn’t appeal to you consider a small tour by a local. We booked a trip with Dairine for an excursion throughout Wicklow. Personalized for our group, we started with an easy ride to Powerscourt Gardens and spent over an hour touring the various gardens with a short coffee break. Then headed through the national park stopping view the mountains and lakes along the way. We stopped for a wonderful lunch before heading for a 3.4 mile hike around Glendalough and its monastic city. Dairine was extremely knowledgeable and was able to offer history and perspectives as a true local guide. We throughly enjoyed our day would highly recommend a tour with Dairine.

Highly recommended ! - We can't thank our guide Dairine enough for guiding us through the most spectacular garden and scenery during our trip to Ireland. Her knowledge, enthusiasm, and the way she brought the landscape to life truly made our journey unforgettable. Powerscourt was the most beautiful garden we have ever visited!

A walk through history - Dairine did an incredible job helping us find our ancestral farm, parish church and family connections in Port Arlington, Ireland. She was so knowledgeable and well versed in local history. We feel that she went above and beyond to cater the day to our personal preferences and goals. After a successful morning of finding out more about our family history in the area, we enjoyed a lovely tour of Trinity College Library, the Book of Kells, the Museum of Archeology and many more Dublin highlights. Thank you, Dairine, for making our day so memorable!

A tour of Wicklow at it's finest! - My wife and I booked a day tour of Wicklow and environs, including the Powerscourt Estate and Gardens. I am a gardener and Powerscourt is a renown botanical garden and a 'must see' for me. Dairine, a native of Wicklow, imparted much entertaining and educational information of the region. We enjoyed her tour of Powerscourt as she accompanied us throughout the gardens. The history of Wicklow (and some of its more notable residents) and the physical beauty of the region are stunning. Dairine made our tour interesting, meaningful and memorable. A truly winning combination for me and my wife.
