- Archeological Park of Herculaneum - Like Pompeii, Herculaneum was a town engulfed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, offering a detailed and vibrant snapshot of Roman society and daily life. While Pompeii was covered by a thick layer of volcanic ash and stone, Herculaneum was buried under a pyroclastic flow of volcanic mud. Visitors can explore spacious houses, shrines, baths, and the surrounding areas, which include many exquisite villas such as the remarkable Villa of the Papyri. Herculaneum served as a holiday retreat for wealthy Romans from the region, boasting beautiful sea views and easy access to the coast. Please note that the Pompeii ticket is not included and costs an additional €13 per person. Admission is free for those under 18. We recommend hiring a guide in Herculaneum.

Herculaneum, known globally for its significance, is situated 150 miles to the south of Rome, near Naples. It makes for a lengthy day trip from Rome or a convenient short trip from Naples or the much-visited vacation region around Sorrento.
