The Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Ri Trek is a remarkable journey that takes us through the lofty valleys of Khumbu. We begin by flying from Kathmandu to Lukla and then journey up the Dudh Koshi valley until we reach the Sherpa heartland of Namche. From there, we take the tranquil path to the Thame village situated in the Bhote Koshi valley. As we descend back to Khumjung, we come across stunning views of Kantega, Thamserku and the Nuptse-Lhotse structure with the imposing Everest above. In Khumjung, we sit in the shadow of Khumbila Peak, the dwelling place of the protector deity of the Khumbu region, before advancing up the Dudh Koshi valley to the azure lakes of Gokyo. From Gokyo, we make our way up to Gokyo Ri to witness a breath-taking 360-degree view of the snow-draped mountains in the Everest region.
From Gokyo, our next stops are Thagnak and then Cho La pass, which provides one of the most challenging days of the trek involving a steep traverse across a glacier and vertical icy rock surfaces. After reaching Dzongla, we take the lower path along the valley to meet the main trail leading to Everest Base Camp.
