Get away with hubby - We had a great time with João. He is extremely knowledgeable and informative about Évora. We spent 2 1/2 hours walking in the areas that was noted and he took his time to explain everything to us. I highly recommend the tour and I suggest you ask for João.

Phenomenal! Couldn’t have been better!! - I planned this day trip from Lisbon to EVORA with one of my friends mostly to see the Chapel of Bones but, during the tour, very quickly fell in love with the Cathedral. João was just a dream tour guide because not only is he BRILLIANT, he loves history and has studied it extensively at the university. His passion shows up in the details! He showed us where the designers signed their work in the architecture and had the story behind almost every work of art. Seriously, no lie, his tour was the highlight of our entire, already amazing, vacation. We had the absolute BEST time ever!! I wish we could have stayed there longer. Of course, it didn’t hurt that he’s also super cute and had us dying with his dry humor, which, obviously, was right up our alley. He also answered all of our random questions, gave us pop quizzes and offered recommendations on wine and what to look for in good cork. All in all, a perfect 5 starts. No, honestly this was BETTER than perfect! This little day trip to the magical medieval town of EVORA proved to be absolutely marvelous and simply could not have been any better. ** Also, personally, I recommend watching the movie Beckett before coming because it helps to understand the role of the Bishop in the church in those times. It’s an old movie from 1964 with Richard Burton and Peter O’Toole. It’s really about King Henry ll, but goes into dramatic detail about the church and bishop’s involvement in politics. If you enjoy history as much as we all do, you’ll love the movie.
