A well run bus excursion - We enjoyed our trip with The Original Red Bus to Varosha . The driver and guide did an excellent job. They were really helpful and informative. The bus was air conditions downstairs. You could also purchase bottles of water or mementos of your trip. All at very reasonable prices. I highly recommend this company.

Eye opening trip - This was an interesting trip to see the Turkish side of the island, and the guides were very knowledgeable and helpful. I learnt a lot about the conflict and how this affected the people who stayed there, and we're involved and saw desolation that I would not have imagined seeing. When you see it on tv, it's not the same as seeing it in person. Definitely would recommend this trip.

Great Trip - Waited as you’d expect 15 minutes before the pickup time and was collected at 9.55am as planned. We had the last pick up so top deck was pretty full but still managed a couple of seats in the blazing sunshine, make sure you have hats and plenty of cream. Our crew were Clive (driver) and Paul aka Dave who was our onboard entertainment, plenty of interesting facts on route to the Ghost town, although a little bumpy with all the speed humps. Passport control was a breeze to leave us with 2 hours to wander around the town. What a fascinating insight into the events of 1974 and how man can’t get along together. Plenty of spots to cool down and have a drink. Once back on the bus we were shown the other side of the conflict with all the abandoned and decaying residential properties people were forced to leave. Highly recommended.

Very nice trip - Great driver Gary and Paul told about Cyprus. Very entertaining and good information from Paul. A very beautiful nature in Cyprus in the small villages.

Fascinating - The tour started when we were picked up from Nick’s Bottle Shop in Protaras. The man who was driving and the woman who was talking about the tour were both fluent English speakers. We drove down past Paralimni and Deryneia and then we crossed the border between the Republic of Cyprus 🇨🇾 and Northern Cyprus 🇹🇷. They let us go into the TRNC (Turkish Republic of Nothern Cyprus) and the kind woman there talked about the history of Varosha and the 1974 conflict. We got there and we were given two hours to see the abandoned buildings and beaches. I took loads of pictures and there was good service on the beach. On the way back, we got to see the residential area of Varosha, where there was an abandoned school, church and houses. The woman talked about the history of Varosha on the way back. When crossing through border to the Republic 🇨🇾, a man came on and quickly checked our passports and we passed a British Military base 🇬🇧. Then we arrived at the same place we got picked up. The staff were nice and it was a hot day so there were fans downstairs. My only complaint would be that two hours is not long enough to see everywhere on the map.

Amazing trip to Varosha - After reading about the opening of Varosha since we last visited Cyprus, I knew this was a trip I wanted to do on our visit this time. Thought it would be just myself and my husband going but both our 21 yr and 18 yr children wanted to go as well which I was surprised about. Meeting point was easy to arrange and guides Hayley and Gary were very friendly. Bus journey was interesting as we travelled up to the border, with lots of smaller towns/villages to go through. Once we arrived at Varosha, we decided that the 2 hours that we were given to explore wasn't going to be enough on foot so we hired electric scooters just within the entrance area. Best decision! Managed to explore the whole site that was open to us as visitors with 20 mins to spare for an ice cream! The place was extremely interesting, eerie yet fascinating, and looked just like a film set. On our departure, the bus took us around the outskirts of the Varosha area so that we could see much more of the area that wasn't open to visitors. Definitely a trip worth doing.

A Fascinating Visit - Fantastic tour lovely driver Clive, and Hayley guiding the tour. Was just a bit too long picking people up on the way and dropping off on way back. Varosha is absolutely fascinating and surreal. Heat meant it was hard going but definitely worth it.

Trying to make our negative experience helpful for others - We booked the tour through our holiday company as a group of 7. We had an agreed pick up time of 09:55. We arrived at our pick up point at 09:53 and after waiting for over 20 minutes got a call from the Rep to say the bus had been and gone. Needless to say leaving slightly early rather than hanging back a little for a group of 7 beggars belief. I can only assume that the driver was having a particularly bad day..... full refund given and an apology but still an annoying holiday time waste! On a more practical level and to try and help fellow travellers - if you look up the 'Trackers Excursions' Tour - it has the best reviews from travellers (97% recommend as at the time of writing). Looks like they give you an extra 30 mins and also do the same hotel pick ups. Hoping that you have a better experience than us.... we'll be back next year to follow our own advice... - wasn't time to fix this year :( !
