Ria Formosa Natural Park - The Ria Formosa lagoon, located in the Algarve, in southern Portugal, is a system of barrier islands that communicates with the sea through six inlets. Five of these inlets are natural and have mobility characteristics. The sixth is an artificial inlet that was opened with the purpose of allowing easier access to the port of Faro.
Within the Ria Formosa system, different and sometimes antagonistic uses may be found. Part of the system is a Natural Park but Ria Formosa also plays an important role in the region’s economy. Beyond the tourist use the system also supports other economic activities like seafood farms (including grooved carpet shell harvesting) and the port of Faro.
The Ria Formosa is also a designated Natural Park of over 170 km² and a stopping place for hundreds of different birds during the spring and autumn migratory periods. - Animaris Ilha Deserta Boat Tours - Ilha Deserta (also known as Ilha da Barreta) is an island near Faro. Literally, Ilha Deserta means Deserted Island. This pretty much describes the island, since there are no people who live on this island permanently. The island is famous for its beautiful beach and unspoiled nature. It is truly a paradise in the Algarve.
- Ilha Do Farol - Ilha do Farol is one of the barrier islands that form the Ria Formosa. This island which used to be a fisherman’s village, today is a small touristic place where you can find a couple of bars and restaurants to have a drink or a full meal.

Pedro gave a great tour - Captain Pedro was friendly and informative and the scenery was beautiful. Our 2 young nephews 8 and 11) had a great time and wanted to jump back on the boat again.

RIB Trip - We like fast boats and had a very enjoyable 2 hours. It was like a private tour since no one else had booked this trip. Our guide and captain Joao was helpful in getting a couple of oldies on and off the RIB!! He knew his stuff and kept us well informed as we toured. 2 hours well spent.

Excellent - We had a limited amount of time on the day.Our Guide Bruno met us in Faro Marina on time.
He gave us a great tour of the lagoon explaining the key environmental stories including the reestablishment of the seahorse habitat.

Great tour, gladly again - I am very enthusiastic about the tour, Maria explained a lot to me and answered my questions really well (there were only two of us, so she was able to respond to all my requests). We were on two islands and spent a long time on the speedboat. The speedboat ride was a lot of fun. Maria did a great job :-)

Fast, safe, fun and interesting - Good boat, very friendly scipper who gave good explanations and stories during the tour. It was lot's of fun with the high speed on the ocean. We always felt save. Nothing to complain
