Highlights
  • Saline Culcasi - Riserva del Mare - Museo - In the first part of the tour you will have the opportunity to take a relaxing walk, discovering the infinite shades of white that characterize the salt, not to mention the blue of the sea, the gray clay and the pink of the tanks.

This route follows the perimeter of the salt pan until it reaches the banks of the salt pans where the water acts as a mirror to the sky.

Through this tour, the Culcasi salt pans offer an experience suitable for all age groups within the WWF reserve, among protected plants and birds, so you can see the salt that forms in the tanks by collecting it with your hands and following step by step the entire process that transforms sea water into salt that everyone knows.

  • Museo del Sale - The second part of the tour focuses on the guided tour of the salt museum and the ancient mill from the 1400s, where you can really get involved in the history of salt, retracing not only the tiring work of the salt pan, but above all, the history of the family who have run it for generations.

The museum is located inside an ancient baglio and is included in the official guide of the European Union. It is a strong testimony of the union that has always linked salt and sea.

What's Included
  • Tasting of whole salt and fleur de sel in various flavors

Don't miss a visit to the Culcasi family salt museum accompanied by Irene - We visited the salt museum. To welcome us and explain the secrets of this ancient art we found Irene, a splendid girl who, with her preparation, patience and vitality, gave us a splendid experience. Highly recommended!!!

INSTRUCTIVE AND FUN - One of the prettiest things in Sicily. Both the Museum and the Saline are very interesting. But what is noteworthy is the explanation (also of the salt pans) but above all of the museum; the person who told us about LE SALINE seemed like a thespian, in addition to the interest he aroused, he had a very funny and engaging way of explaining things which fascinated us all. I highly recommend it!!!!!!!! And congratulations to the guy who explained everything to us.........

The salt making history - Beautiful setting and a lot of history on salt making. We did it in the morning but I recommend doing in at sunset and than dining at the adjacent restaurant. We even saw a couple of flamingos flying in the sky. Recommend

An engaging afternoon discovering the world of salt pans - Having the entire afternoon available, we were guided by two very competent and engaging girls, who never let us get bored. The guided tour (1h30) includes a short walk through the salt pans and entrance to the salt museum, small but well-developed. Absolutely recommended!

Show - Something wonderful, a spectacle of nature. We took part in the visit to the salt pans with only one euro per person and followed the guide for the explanation at the salt museum, which was really interesting. For anyone passing through Trapani, they absolutely must go there. At the end of the visit there is the possibility of purchasing local brown salt and other souvenirs.

Both the guided tour of the salt pan and the visit to the salt museum are absolutely worth doing. - Beautiful experience. Both the guided tour of the salt pan and the subsequent visit to the salt museum were very interesting. We did it at 6.30pm because of the heat and to see the sunset which over the salt flats is very beautiful. Both the lady on the salt pan tour and the girl (from the Culcasi family lineage) who showed us the museum were very good and competent. An experience not to be missed to acquire true knowledge about the various types of salt and to learn about the tradition of salt extraction and the hard and ancient profession of the salt worker.
