Highlights
  • Lake Kawaguchiko - Lake Kawaguchi is situated in the town of Fujikawaguchiko in southern Yamanashi Prefecture, near Mount Fuji, Japan. It ranks as the second largest of the Fuji Five Lakes by surface area and is at the lowest elevation. Positioned at an altitude of roughly 800 meters (2,625 ft), it enjoys relatively cool summers and often icy winters. It also boasts the longest shoreline among the Fuji Five Lakes.
  • Oishi Park - At the “Kawaguchiko Natural Living Center” within the park, visitors can engage in a jam-making experience using local blueberries. Additionally, the park features a café and restaurant with breathtaking views of Mount Fuji, souvenir shops, and more, offering a place to relish the magnificent scenery and partake in various activities! The center also includes playground equipment, a multi-purpose square, and “Oishi-ya,” a store selling locally grown fresh vegetables, ensuring a leisurely day for all.
  • Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Jinja Shrine - Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine is one of approximately 1,300 Asama shrines in Japan dedicated to the deity of volcanoes, particularly Mount Fuji. The shrine is part of the Mt. Fuji World Heritage Site. While the origin of the Asama faith is unclear, some shrines date back to at least 29 BCE. Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine is believed to have been established in 100 CE, starting as a small shrine to commemorate the visit of Yamato Takeru, the legendary prince of the Yamato dynasty, who passed through on his way to Kai Province. In 788, Konohanasakuya-hime and the spirit of Yamato Takeru were enshrined to mitigate the frequent eruptions of Mt. Fuji.
  • Mt. Fuji 5th Station - The most popular starting point of the Yoshida Trail, featuring shops, restaurants, and shrines. This is the terminal of the Fuji Subaru Line tollway and the starting point of the Mt. Fuji Yoshidaguchi Trail at the fifth station.
  • Oshino Hakkai - Oshino Hakkai consists of eight springs located in Oshino, Yamanashi, Japan. The aquifer water from Mount Fuji surfaces to form these springs. They are a Natural Monument of Japan, part of the Mount Fuji World Heritage Site, and one of Yamanashi Prefecture’s key tourist attractions.
  • Saiko Iyashi no Sato Nemba - Saiko Iyashi no Sato Nenba (Healing Village) is located in the Nemba District, on the shores of Lake Saiko, with the stunning Mt. Fuji as a backdrop. Once an area lined with thatched roof houses, Fujikawaguchiko-machi has restored approximately 20 of these houses to create “Saiko Iyashino-Sato Nenba.” The village offers a variety of facilities for everyone to enjoy, including traditional craft-making activities, museums and galleries, local product shopping, and places for teatime or meals.
  • Arakurayama Sengen Park - Arakurayama Sengen Park is a block park located at 3353 Arakura, Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan, established in October 1959. Situated on the hillside of Mount Arakura, it spans about 4.3 hectares. It is renowned as a scenic spot where visitors can view Mount Fuji, a red five-story pagoda, and cherry blossom trees all at once. The park enshrines Sangoku Daiichisan Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine and is considered a sacred area. It features around 650 cherry blossoms and a memorial tower for the war dead.

Mount Fuji surrounded by clouds - Our driver Awais took us to Mount Fuji and unfortunately the weather changed and was cloudy and windy. But he tried to make the most of the experience and took us to different spots where we could see the scenery and explain few facts about the places. He was not just a driver!

Not worth the high price for a private guide - This was by far the worst tour we have ever been on; the car was a Prius; it was not comfortable for a full day trip. It also smelled like smoke all day! Especially since the driver smoked when we stopped. There was a driver and a guide. The driver was fine (except for the smoking). He did his job well. But there was zero reason for the guide to be there. I am sure we paid extra for the guide (Abdullah). He explained very little. He slept nearly the whole trip, snoring actually. The driver had to wake him multiple times. We asked occasional questions about where we were or what we were seeing. He was not informative at all. A guide should be somewhat personable, and he was not. He didn’t even introduce himself to the other passenger at the beginning. He only introduced himself to me via text before the tour about meeting times. The only thing that was good about the tour actually had nothing to do with the tour. The sun was shining, and Mt Fuji was beautiful. If you are paying a high price for a private guide and driver you expect a certain level of service.
