Sampling the many wines of Madeira - A wine tasting experience with a difference. Our enthusiastic tour leader, Sofia, was knowledgeable and inspiring as she led us around the island’s wineries. The scenery was a spectacular backdrop to the many tastings of delicious wines. The lunch was memorable for the great quantity and quality of food, necessary to soak up the generous amounts of wine. We look forward to sampling more wines from Madeira.

Excellent Madeira Tour with Delightful Guide and Tasteful Experience! - A very pleasant tour with tasteful local food and wine, where we also got to see a lot of Madeira, together with our very pleasant and knowledgeable guide Graça, who made the experience even better. The weather was perhaps a bit on the windy side, but that's not something we can blame the guide for. Overall, a great day and we can recommend it to others who want to try it out.

Great Day on Madeira - The Full Day Wine Tour by Wine Tours of Madeira is truly a great way to spend a day on the island of Madeira. Sophia gave us a great introduction to the wine industry on the island. We visited two Madeira Houses and two wineries thus ensuring a nice sampling of what the island has to offer. Sophia was well known and liked at each stop, thus ensuring we got the very best experience. She was born on the island and had a wealth of knowledge about plants, geography and history. In summary, a great way to see what is happening in the wine industry while getting a good overview of the island!

Wine tour by a master storyteller - Sofia describes herself as a Storyteller, rather than a guide, and we totally concur - she was born on Madeira and was a font of knowledge about the island, Funchal, history &, of course, wine. There was only 4 of us on this tour& fortunately the other couple were great company. All of the individual guides at the 4 stops were excellent - entertaining, informative & friendly. It covered both Madeira wine & table wine. We were picked up from our hotel promptly at 9am; the 1st stop at Blandy's was in their beautiful building that was once a monastery; we enjoyed the history of the Blandy generations & the dry & sweet tastings. Next, we drove through the island on the old roads, as opposed to the dual carriageway that rings the island, so much more interesting. We stopped at a vineyard with spectacular views, had the tour of the vineyard, then a tasting of 6 wines, then lunch, which was Espetada - traditional cubes of steak cooked on a woodfire, and very tasty. Next tasting was at Seixal, affording us spectacular views of this part of the island. Final stop was at Barbeito, a more modern vineyard specialising in Madeira wine, very different to Blandy's. Tried the medium sweet & medium dry, which we bought! Dropped back at our hotel around 5pm. Cannot recommend this tour more highly - a thoroughly enjoyable day out. Thank you, Sofia

Fantastic day out! - Sofia was a fantastic guide. She was very knowledgeable and en route was a font of knowledge both about the wines and about the island of Madeira. Venues were carefully selected and the tours were all good. It was a fabulous day learning about Madeira wine and the wines of Madeira and tasting so many of them. The lunch was simple but excellent.

Great guide and Tour - Sophia picked us up promptly and we arrived at our first stop early. But Sophia was able to tell us so much about Madeira life that the time was easily filled. It was a small group and we were comfortably transported to each wine stop with Sophia giving us plenty of information. At each Winery the guides were also very good. There were occasional stops to see the amazing scenery. The lunch was very tasty and more than we expected, there were also nibbles at each wine stop, so we were very full by the end of the tour!

Great wine and food tour - This trip was very interesting and our guide was knowledgeable in all aspects of the journey. We had the opportunity to compare the products from several makers of wine and fortified wine, which was very educational. We fully recommend this tour.

I’ve been on wine tours all over the world and would definitely rate this as one of the best I have ever been on ! The food , the wine , & the unique and fabulous locations we visited ! Sofia is an amazing guide , informative fun & personable as well as being extremely professional and timely ! She also gave me great tips for the rest of my trip .,, ! Enjoyable day tasting wine around the island - Enjoyed the tour. It was a nice way to spend a day. However, the group size was too large. The Tripadvisor listing indicated a maximum of 12 but there were 17 on the tour. It was very cramped at the back of the vehicle for those who boarded last.
